Tsssk, what a load of saddos... Nothing to do on a Friday night except use the internet, eh?
The irony escapes me somehow
On a vaguely realted note, changing the element in my Mk1 172 for a K&N part made it feel a bit more perky too, I just didnt think it was worth the extra they...

Glad to hear youre alright mate - sounds like the clio stood up well to the accident, which is all that really matters. I agree with what you said about your car - not everyone can afford / wants a faster car than they own... Hell, Id be driving around in an Elise or an Evo if I could...

Just do a search for Superchip - weve been over it loads of times... Ive got a SuperChip and its okay. Ive done about 10,000 miles on it. No change to the rev limit (unlike some people) but it did get me 7 bhp extra at the wheels (about 10/11 bhp at flywheel) which is just about what...

Ive got a Titanium Mk1 172 and it makes exactly the same noise you describe - certainly aint axle tramp - its either engine/box mounts or downpipe hitting something. Either way, Ive been complaining about it for the last 20,000 miles and still not got it fixed - I couldnt give a damn...

The dCi80 is supposed to be about 3 secs quicker to 60 (about 12secs) so it should feel noticeably nippier. Ive driven my mums dCi65 and its not a bad motor at all. Just dont expect to need your pants changing on every journey though...

Well, that mileage sounds familiar - mine started just before its 24000 mile service! (on 27000 now). Just as you said, it sounds like a mouse or something!!!
Let me know if you find the cause. Cheers mate!

I get a strange squeaking noise from the passenger side front too (no hamster jokes please)... I had it into the dealers as I thought the wheel bearing had gone, but they reckoned it was the brake binding slightly. It still makes the noise, but its only intermittently and it only happens when Im...

You always seem to be on the defensive - you dont need to be! Theres nothing at all wrong with a dCi 65/80 and I dont think anyone here is under the illusion that everyone wants/needs the highest powered car in the world just to have a giggle in...
Just an observation... (But Id...

Let me rephrase GirlRacers question: "Do you think you can cane a 172 due to having a superior torque figure, yet refuse to back this up with real world evidence, and handily back out of all confrontational situations, only to reappear again in about a months time to piss everyone off all over...
Teady,
Take your pick mate! It was mainly contamination - looked like little round blobs peppered all over it. Also there was a lack of laquer on the wing mirror! The paintwork really was pants - much worse than my Mk1 172 (which is soooo thinly painted it chips whenever the wind blows in...
