WRC cars do not have to be homologated. Grp N and Group A need to be homologated. There are no street going versions of the pukks WRC cars anymore. Last manufacturer to use a Grp A homologated car in the WRC was Mitsubishi.
It is rather interesting dealing with the Renault garage here. Went in today with the bird/interpreter to enquire about getting my cambelt changed. The quote was €500. Asked for a Renaultsport parts catalogue as well. Not a chance. Renault Luxembourg doesnt even have a catalogue. They...
My Willy suspension is stock, and not only that, still has the original dampers. That is with 177,500km! It really has to be one of the best all around suspensions. I have video shot from a car folowing me around the ring and I was very surprised to see how flat the thing corners!
There is...
I did a lap of the ring on the back bumper of a rally prepped Willy with my bone stock one. He was supposedly putting out 180+ HP but there was nothing in it on the straights and I was backing off in the twisty bits.
I was pleasantly surprised, but the other car amy have been a bit out of...
My Willy has a bit of the rust near the petrol filler and the bottom of the hatch is pretty nasty as well. Still pretty good for a 10 year old that has been driven in all weather.
Corrosion protection has come a long way!
Buy mine for €5000! Sure, the steering wheel is on the wrong side, but that just makes it that much more exclusive!
Great car, but with two wee ones, Im moving in the direction of four doors.
I drove a VW Golf for about 40 miles, at speed, with the lug bolts just finger tight. I kept looking up for the helicopter that I thought was flying over me but it was the sound of the wheels wobbling! Close one, that!
Scott,
That is precisely why my Evo 6 TM sits in the garage and the Willy gets to play on the ring. I would have had to take out a loan just for the petrol for the trips to and from never mind the tyres and brakes!
I would venture to say that Im enjoying the Willy even more than the Evo...
If youre looking at spending that kind of money, investigate the new ones, including the imports. You might not be spending that much more in the long run when finance charges and warranty are taken into account. Of course the depreciation on a new motor is steeper...
Shiraz,
When you stop in there could you ask them if there is a catalogue of motorsport bits for the Willy. Ive been lookng all over the place for one to no avail. I could really use something in English with the part numbers...
Thanks,
Ed
Yes the old mini was a great little car. I loved mine even though it was ready for the knackers. It had a really neat little trick where the speedo needle acted like a propellor and spun around the dial acoording how fast you were going. It spun backwards in reverse...very entertaining!

Anybody here who workes for Renault? Where can I find the part numbers for motorsport bits for my Willy. A bunch of things will need renewing and Id like to upgrade...
On the ring I have seen literally hundreds of Elises and a few Exiges. I havent a clue as to how the Willy would stack up to them as they have either flown by me or vice versa. I havent had a full lap with one either on my tail or in my gunsights. It is impossible to know what state of tune...

Ive just been completely through the Renault Sport website and about a hundred others and I have yet to find out where I can get a Renault Sport parts catalogue if such a thing exists.
I know all about the Grp N Clio, the S1600 Clio, and so on including all the toys and F1 programme etc...
