welcome.
keep the modifications simple - forget the engine!
15 or 16" alloys and colour coding.
you can chuck money at it and end up with it looking like a halfords advert!
as long as you give it time to warm up before using any high revs (5-10 mins depending on how cold outside) and it's not getting too hot or smelly, probably just a loose connection.
I think about 70-90 is about normal.

the late 2007 GT 'might', just 'might' mean a bigger dCi like the Meggy :-)
83bhp/tonne
woo hoo, I can beat a performance figure for a change!
980kg and 106bhp minimum = 108/tonne
980kg and 172lb/ft = 175/ton (a 197 @ 1240kg with 155lb/ft is ONLY 125!)
The size of it though is misleading, you can be going quicker and not feel like it.
^ ^ yep - that's why a good 1960's mini cooper is such a scream
197 - a very nice, very refined car with not-quite-enough-power-and-stupid-gearing!
I really really wanted to love it (and thrash it) - it looked fab in the showroom....
Showroom - superb fit and finish - more BMW than Reno of old
First Impressions on driving off - nice starter button, smooth, quite, nice seats (standard)
In town - firm but superb damping, wicked...
I paid 3650 deposit, 200pm for 2 years then 1650 final payment - only paid 10K for an 11K car!
if I taken their FIRST finance figures offered, I'd have paid around 13K
2 hours of negotiations paid off!
3 1/2 years later only spend £100 pm on diesel and one basic service every 18 months...
