On the rust front, personally i go round my cars 3 or 4 times a year with a pot of zinc primer. If i see any areas i think might rust i just dab some on (or if its on the exterior i use a touch up pen). Zinc primer is effective because the zinc in the paint accepts electrons from the oxygen...
Seem to be a fair amount of parts around, but they can be expensive to maintain. Having said that, i think they are expensive to maintain because people spend whatever it takes to keep them looking fantastic (i have yet to see a Williams that looks more than 5 years old despite being made almost...
When you get a decat is there any reason to keep the heat shield that udes to lie next to the cat and the decat is now so far from the car? Also what about the one that protects the tyre if you dont have a spare? Are the heat shields really needed? They look pretty heavy. Good weight reduction.
Bit of rust dont mean jack. Could just be a chip that wasnt painted. We need pics to see the real quality. Cant be 3, he said it was 2?? meaning two hundred and something i think.
It must be pretty f*cked if he only wants £1500. Surely this is too good to be true??????????????????
If you dont want it and its tidyish, ill buy it as a second car for that money.
Now im not mechanically brilliant, but if i get something explained to me well, i have alot of common sense and am quite good with my hands. Im not unintelligent either. But, i go to section in the manual to do a little job, and its explained in such a way as to make it worthless describing it...
Is it just me or are these getting sh*te? I looked at some old one the other day for some real old car and the diagrams, instructions and layout where far superior. Mine might as well be written in Chinese.
Can someone give me a bit of a walk through talk on how to change the spark plugs on my Williams, including tools i will need, and tricky bits, and what NOT to do? The spark plugs i have are NGK BCP 7EV, are these the right ones? If this shouldnt be attempted by a novice tell me now and ill get...
My green gave a definate increase in power. However, it did replace an old paper one so it might just be that i gained back what i lost with the fly ridden paper one
What is the rule for mixing oil? I have 3.5 litres of 10/40 left over from my Silvia days and i want to change the oil on my Volvo. Is it ok to mix different types of oil as i gues iil need about 5 litres. What about mixing different grades?
At the rear of the car, underneth, connected to the rear suspension by a hook and passing horizontally back to a unit that attaches near the exhaust back box. It kind of looks like an egg whisk and is about 10 cms long. Any ideas?
Dry ice has a surface temp of -79 degrees centigrade. And it sublimes (ie goes straight from solid to gas, so no mess). It stays cold for ages. Am i onto something here? You could fill up with dry ice at the service station when you got you petrol, lmao, quick where is the patent office...
Ok what about this. A really long intake pipe that zig zags through the car (somewhere). Along side this pipe, another pipe conaining dry ice. The length of time the air was in the pipe (the zig zaggy one) the air temp would drop 5 or so degrees easily (maybe alot more). Ok so youd have to fill...
