Is a car still legal to drive with no doors? What about just the back doors and the boot? Thinking of turning my Volvo into a lightweight open air jeep type machine.
Any budding theives know the best way to smash / break / remove locking wheel nuts? I have lost my key. The local garage said they may be able to get them off but apparently the nuts might be too deep in the alloy to get a good purchase. Any ideas?
lol, yeah, it would be like driving a helicopter down the motorway. WHAT NOISE? I CANT HEAR YOU!! WHAT? SPEAK UP!
I thought there would be some weight saving because a smaller engine with a turbo could put out the same HP as a bigger one with non turbo? I thought he meant a different / same...
I cleaned the choke unit the mouths of the intakes and the jets. It has a manual choke.
If i let it tick over after it is hot it starts better than if i stop driving and then turn it straight off. It has problems starting unless it is cold from being left overnight.
Fuel consumption is much...
However, fuel may not be a problem, because the turbo engine would be lighter than its NA equililent so may get better fuel consumption (didnt think about that when i wrote the last post).
Also nobody has mentioned older cars. If i was goimng to buy an older car (say as a second car), a...
Honda dont generally use turbos do they? They dont seem to be hurt to much. If turbos where the only way to go some of their cars would have them???
Ferrari make some pretty good no expenses spared powerful engines with no turbos. Cant be THAT important for a good engine.
My diesel had this problem and a nut had come loose on the unit that houses the throttle cable on the engine. As the throttle is depressed a small plastic switch increases the fuel supply to the engine (sorry about the lack of technical terms). The nut had come loose and as a result not enough...
I am thinking of changing my Vovlo for something different (my second car for putting miles on). I have a budget of around a grand, so let me have your opinion. Looks arnt important. I want either something faster, or something very economical (ie a diesel). Both will probably be stripped down...
I agree with Jim172cup. In the engines in a normal hot hatch cars you dont need exotic oil. Use bog standard 10 40 and change it regularly. If you buy Mobil 1 or other guaranteed to stick to your engine and reduce friction but cost you a mortgage to buy oils your just wasting money.
If you change your oil very frequently it doesnt matter if you dont use synthetic oil. Personally i find Mobil 1 too thin (not viscous enough) for the Williams. I use a semi synthtic oil but i change my oil ever 500 miles and dont allow it to get dirty. This isnt as expensive as it seems as i...

Get a Volvo 340 as a second car. Instructions:
Buy a cheap one (sub £200) tax and tested
Rip out all seats including passenger, mats, door panels, spare wheel, tools, carpets, rear and light washer motors, roof padding
Make home made IK
Run it into the ground
Get another one, and use...
Get under the car and do it properly. Then take the plastic covers off the arches and get under them and have a good look. Dont forget the alloys. I just waxoil my whole alloys in the winter. looks sh*t but keeps them nice. Also see if any fluids have leaked from the engine bay and taken the...
Been having trouble starting my Volvo when it is warm (the engine not the air temp) It seems to start easier when its cold. Put some carb cleaner on the carb and it SEEMS ok now. Does this sound like a dirty carb problem?
Id say 5 of a particular car in the whole of Aberdeen makes it quite rare. In the whole of Aberdeen how many Golf TDIs are there? How many Saxo VTS? Rarity is a comparable thing. COMPARED to other cars the Williams is rare (it was rare when it was first made because only 500 where made for this...
LOL, if your talking about performance forget about Seats and Audi S3s. Jap cars with turbos will sh*t all over these cars in looks, power, performance and prestige. I agree with the guy who said a Supra twin turbo. Now thats a fast car.
Stretch to 20k and get a second hand Honda NSX. Ayrton Senna drove one as his car of choice. What else do i need to say? Described as the supercar you can go shopping in. Stunning looks, very rare, very fast.
