Sean,
Yeah Ireland is the pits for insurance. VRT is no deal either. And the VAT is 21% again. And the roads are sh*te as well. Fun if you like rally stages but they do pound the sh*te out of the cars. At least the ppetrol is almost as cheap as it is here in Luxembourg.

I love my Willy and have owned a bunch of stripped out homologation cars over the years. If you can only have one car and you are addicted to ICE, A/C stc. then stay away. But if you would rather mess about on a track then the deletions make sense. The lighter the car the better as far as Im...
Good ideas there. If anybody is travelling to the continent and is interested in doing the Nurburgring just get in touch with me. Id be happy to give an introdution to the place. I can be reached at: sport_evo@hotmail.com

Paul,
You are so right. This could be a great site and there are plenty of genuine posters here. There is also a whole load of bullsh*te that really detracts.
Yep Im an old fart with a Willy that I find quite enjoyable. Ive tried to get some good solid information here and have come up...

I cringe every time I think of the Irish importers of any car. They de-content them to keep the VRT down and try not to bring in anything at all special. Then they (SIMI)lobby against the importers.
Then the insurance agent looks at you like you have three eyes when you mention anything...

I thought Is start with the suspension and mounts first as they are original and the car has 169,000km on the clock. Since I spend a fair bit of time on the ring I think it prudent to renew those bits first. Tighten things up a bit even though they really arent loose now.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I think it is about time to replace the motor mounts and various bushings. Im thinking of upgrading to motorsport bits but havent a clue where to start...
Sensible fellow. Those who have raced know that one neednt take risks on the road and even on the track taking risks is not rewarded sufficiently. If you want to take risks go to the casino. Driving is about skill and knowing the limitations of your vehicle. Back in my racing days I slew a...

They sure are rare birds there in the UK. I really would like to get to the bottom of the LHD story though. I know of a 2533 and my 3369, neither of which fit the magical 2500 which seems to get quoted all the time. Or did Pierre out back in the badge shop have just a little too much Bordeaux...

It is really a bit disconcerting to own Willy I # 3369 and be told that there are only 2500 built. Then somebody else says that therewere 300 or 400 for the UK market, either included in, or in addition to, the original 2500 figure. Then another person says that there were 2 for Cyprus and...
I almost forgot. The rev limiter was driving me crazy on the autobahn. 220 is just not fast enough. An Audi A6 1.9Tdi just cruised by. That is really disheartening...
First time out in Willy. Great fun although delayed for an hour as they had to clean up a fair bit of carange from the race before. There were at least two 172s running in the race and they sounded great by the way. Got five laps in, and for those of you who are impressed by such things...
