golf heads love ther conversions, if it was a mark two it could have been a G60(left hand drive only) thay are stupidly quick, VR6 mk2s are not to shy either certainly beat a 172. 1.8 16V would not beat you unless it was heavily modded. i have MURDERED many previously and im talking absoloutely...

your problem obviously seems to be having the wrong offset. not sure what the correct offset is but you should no way be gatting scrubbage. spacers may give give you problems at the other end but as they say, you dont know til you try!

not quite sure what _KDF was talking about RT_owner but it may be worth checking them anyway, you can do it yourself. Jack the car up and grip the wheel at the bottom and top and try and make it move. if it moves you need new ball joints, if not your fine. sorry if you already knew this, just...
