Chaning down gear will always cause wear on gearboxes, theyre not supposed to live forever. Blipping the throttle before changing down to keep the revs balanced will reduce wear.

Id phone up pentagon autotint. They have dealers all over the country. Plus you can get supaglass from them (the stuff which can take hammerblows).

Well theres a the little button at the end of the right stalk. You press it to cycle through options like MPG, Range, Average speed etc. To reset it you push the stalk which is in the dash itself

Have a look at the pads though Tom to see if theres any glaze left, if so get a steel brush and rough them up
