Good morning dear friends.......
My car is a w4nker.....that is my first thought for the day.
So after replacing my cat/manifold gasket last night (which just for reference, is ALSO a w4nker) this morning, my car showed this.....
So what have i broken? Which one is right? This was fine...
Ok, so in another thread....here...some one has used clips to hold the shocks compressed.
Should this not be the case with my brand new Renault items or is it because they are cup pack dampers? Are they gas and the standard 172 ones oil?

Before almost visiting the lunatic asylum.....I took to the Clio last night to find out what the facking resonance was at about 3-4k.
Seems this can be many things in these french boxes but the main candidate looked to be either chassis contact (which it isn't in my case) or heat shields.
So...
Actually, reading it..........i know all that :/
The layout pic is great as lets face it, I would take it all off and forget the order of bolts/washers in about 3 seconds.
I was just wondering if how the cat pipe sits has anything to do with leaks or is it fairly well sealed with a new gasket...
I remember reading here somewhere that Fred was the bee-hatch for fitting the cat-to-mani gasket (ph2 172 type) as i appear to have the tell-tale hissing from the gear lever area and can see a couple of feint black soot marks on mine.
Fred, can you offer any tips in fitting this or is there a...
I would eyeball your sparks plugs for cracks or damage too bud as they come out.
I have seen cracks on plugs cause similar.....also check the plugs for signs of flashing (burns around the outside of the ceramic) as this may be a good pointer that moisture got in too.
Removing and replacing the...
The VVT?
Surely, there are very few things on the car that would cost that much?
That doesn't sound right.
The VVT is one valve and a dephaser. The dephaser fix is around 500 including all of the belts etc and i cannot imagine the valve costing that much.
Sorry to hear you had to do that...
Morning guys, thanks for all of your input.....
Forgot to upload yesterdays results which for all intents and purposes, tally up with the previous one. The front tow was out again though and it hasn't been hit or touched since :S
Swede:
Bottom arms are original items, ball joints are both...
Am I going to have to resort to camber bolts to fix this standard suspension setup or is that a pikey fix?
What would be the most likely candidate?
Could the KYB top mounts cause this?
That and the shocks are the ONLY thing that has been changed on both sides
J
Right, just back from the tyre place.
They stuck it on the machine and spent a bit of time on it. They really are trying to help.
Car is still wandering. And the camber is still bucked :/
So, what am i left with? Something surely has to be bent if shocks were replaced and i have a camber...
Right guys, posted this before buts its starting to affect my happiness now.
Has anyone on here replaced their front shocks with brand new items from Renault lately?
If so, can you please go out and push up and down on your wing and tell me does it make a loud piston noise?
I have read about...
I was thinking of pulling the plugs and looking at them, to check for soot.....
so, if say it was an injector at fault, would i expect not to see fouling on a plug?
Hey gang, have just managed to nurse my car home from work after it started misfiring on the motorway......
Couldn't take any load at all so just tickled it up to running speed in 3rd and gingerly avoided traffic etc till i got it in the garage
This happened another night a while ago that i...
