When I amped mine in my 1.2 Extreme I cut and shut into the OE loom. Its not ideal by any means but sounded fine. If you wanna do a proper job you need to drill the doors and the sill and use rubber bungs etc.

IMHO if you are buying a Valver or a Willy you have to be willing to restore the body work. Usually the rear arches, and sometimes the wheels.
If you find a perfect example you will pay through the nose.
I'm still settling into them just now. Feel great in just a t-shirt. Bit restrictive when you start wearing coats and big jumpers and the like. Will clean the car soon and post full pics!
If there is accident damage then I would suggest you will be ok.
The vertical dents you describe sound like car park dints where someone opens their door on your car leaving a very slight crease. Very difficult to remove. You may have to live with those.
