Welcome to the forum. The trophy recaros tend to go for ~£700+ and do pop up on here occasionally. If you pay to be a club member you'll be able to browse the for sale sections and set up alerts for when new items for sale are posted. It's well worth it for access to all the guides etc as well...
Not a fan of the stickers either but other than that looks nice. Monaco blue looks great in the sun! A cup spoiler would really suit it. Have you got any more plans for it?
You say you don't think it's the rack but have you checked the bushes (assuming you have an SMI rack)?
I had a similar issue to what you've described in your first paragraph - the steering wheel would be jerking all over the place in my hands. The problem was worse on rougher road surfaces and...
Assuming when you say sensors you mean you've replaced the lambda/O2 sensor and that didn't help?
Take it to a specialist? Where are you based? As far as I understand it, cams would need live mapping to get the most out of them.
The knocking could also be the exhaust. Either at the rear due to perished rubber mounts or on the subframe due to excessively worn dogbone mount bushes.
However if it only happens when going over speedbumps it's probably more likely to be suspension as mentioned above.
Car looks great. I'd try your polisher on the washer blanks - even if it doesn't work I'm sure you could get them done professionally for pennies. How did you go about changing the engine mount out of interest? Support weight of engine under sump with trolley jack, old mount off, new mount on...
Depends on your relationship in my opinion. If you'd class each other as friends then sharing it for track days only could work. However if it was potentially your daily as well I reckon the risks are going to outweigh the benefits. Probably worth bearing in mind that even if you are friends, if...
If you're not going to track it and you only want a small drop I wouldn't even contemplate shelling out £800 on coilovers.
The eibach sportlines are quite well regarded on here. Another (slightly cheaper) option is cooksport springs although they're not often in stock.
Depending on the age of...
I believe it's common for the clutches to be very hard, mine certainly is. As far as how long they last goes, mine is on the original at 103k. I've heard of people on their original clutch at 150k+. As far as I understand it, the release bearings tend to fail rather than the clutch itself.
Not...
I see, mine doesn't foul the piece under the shifter for some reason. Reassuring that you've had no issues though. I will see if I can attach mine back together somehow but if not may just do away with them as you have. Thanks again.
Thanks for the reply and the pictures! Will get some next time I'm under the car but that's not likely to be for at least a week or so. Drove about 130 miles today and there was no rattling so it must be ok for now!
Is yours a ph1? It looks like the heat shields might be different... Did you...
Hi all,
Fitted a new megane/scenic shifter to my car today.
Managed to wiggle the old one out and get the new one in without removing my decat but unfortunately I got a bit carried away and I've ripped the larger heatshield towards the front of the car quite badly (the one that sits in front...
Washed it properly for the first time in a while.
Changed rear indicator bulbs for silver ones. Changed the washer jets for ones that actually hit the windscreen. Changed the tailgate gas struts to ones that actually support the weight of the tailgate. Wedged some bolts into one of my rear...
I'm just up the road from you in Frome. Have got family in Westbury so am also there quite often! My 182 had a very rough idle from cold (revs would jump about quite a lot). Turned out my timing was well out and Dan sorted it for me. Would highly recommend him.
Thanks for posting this. I was considering the full ducts and ducting kit that's on eBay for ~£70 but instead I opted to buy some plastic bass ports and some ducting separately for the princely sum of £20 that will do the same job. These will go with it perfectly!
Me too, also on standard cup wheels, cup shocks and cooksport springs. There's still a slight gap in my arches so can't see 50 profile presenting a problem.
Thanks, looks like a clutch change may be on the cards soon then.
As far as I know the car is still on the original and it has 102k on the clock so I had imagined it would fail at some point during my ownership.
@Dan@SJM - what's your price for a clutch change please mate?
Hi all,
Noticed when I parked up today that there was a rattle coming from somewhere in the engine bay but only when the clutch pedal was pressed while the car was in neutral at idle. The car seems to be driving fine, no signs of any clutch slip etc. The pedal is incredibly hard to press and I...
