Can't find it in writing now but 99.9% certain it's a general ruling, whether it's enforced is another matter. Combe are pretty strict for example, Llandow not so though. Can't comment on any others specifically
I've never had an issue with used track dedicated tyres and have bought 888's a d ns2r's in the past, but obviously buy ones that have plenty of life left. Used track tyres can be and are affected by excess heat so keep an eye out for bluey purple patches, especially on shoulders.
That being...
I've said it previously on other threads but R1r's are stunning in the wet and more than adequate on a drying surface at Combe in my experience, OK they are slightly more expensive (£250 for a set of 195/50/15) but speaking as someone with experience of running the 'wrong' tyres on track...
They've owned Avon Tyres outright, but not Avon Rubber itself (unless this has changed since my family stopped working for them) years ago they used to puncture/suffer road damage very easily, I can remember my dad's vectra chewing threw quite a few sets
Depending on where about you are in the country speak to one or two specialists rather than dealerships, they will be cheaper and these are the only cars they deal with really.
There's no point throwing money at a problem when you're not 100% sure of said problem in the beginning, I do...
Looks a nice clean motor mate, you wait that budget will rise and rise, 1k becomes 2 and so on, happens to us all, especially if you end up going on track days
Sounds like ike you've got alternator/battery problems. That won't be watercolour out the battery by the way, far more likely to be the acid contained inside so I wouldn't go touching it without suitable protection.
To be fair any garage should have spotted that charging at 13 volts is below...
All the above are common issues associated with a temperamental uch.
Out of interest do you use the car much, or has it been left standing for a while? Battery?
I'm going to assume you haven't got one of the few sport models with a sunroof so can rule out that leaking (as is common on a lot...
Fairly certain that earth lead from the battery bolts onto the chassis just behind the passenger headlight, on one of the belt holes you can just see in the bottom rand hand corner in the photo
As for the starter motor spinning over I'd imagine the lead has moved as its been tightened up and...
On public roads I don't think you'd ever notice a difference to be fair (I'm sure people will argue that fact mind) however once you start looking at things from a motorsport perspective then things start to differ (I am new to this mind so my understanding may not be totally accurate)
With...
I didn't do anything with it, just reattached it back to the original loom (after removing it from the runner) and left it to its own devices under the dash, when I did mine I had a few faults logged, this being one of them so I can't confirm if it will bring the warning light up on its own but...
I couldn't get the micro switch to clear with a resistor so I ended up removing it from the seat frame and tucking it up under the dash after hacking most of the airbag loom apart.
All traces of said loom are now gone though, and I put up with the airbag/serv lights being on, the cars only used...
One thing I missed off from Combe back last month, first time out using these
Felt really weird to begin with, didn't help that my seat was in completely the wrong position and I felt had to keep tilting my head back to see properly, having spent the day getting used to a Hans it's now hardly...
Off the top of my head there's these,
Drivers seat x 3
Pass seat x 2
Seat belt reels x 4
Side impact sensors X 2
Steering wheel
Pass side of dash
I think that's it but will double check for you bud
Ph2's for me as well @barnesautos, well on the outside anyway
I've had no issues ripping mine out @RobBrodie, can't comment on whether connector blocks will/won't work, I've always soldered wherever possible, or used electrical connectors (I'm assuming you're thinking of using the chocolate...
I've gutted mine of all airbag components and had no issues cutting the loom back (I did solder in the resistors though) apart from the side impact sensors and the microswitch on drivers seat fir the tilting mechanism, both of these I had to connect back up and left them in the void where the...
Underseat connections are a very common cause of the airbag light coming on, as is corrosion to the side impact sensors due to water ingress around the door seal.
My advice if you're not too confident would be to find someone local who can properly diagnose the fault and go from there, there...
No problem mate, I've got one or two in the garage, if the part numbers match your more than welcome to one, they'll only end up in the bin at some point otherwise I expect
If you pop the top cover off the steering cowling you should be able to see the part number for the squib, I don't think Renault used too many different part numbers tonbe honest, biggest thing to look out for would be ones with/without steering angle sensors (pretty certain they were part of...
I wouldn't risk the wiring to be honest, in theory it shouldn't go off but I wouldn't want to chance things for very long at all.
To replace the wiring you'll need to replace the steering squib/indicator/light unit behind the steering wheel.
Its not a hard job to be fair, wheel off and undo...
Most 1*2's have reached that age now where these sorts of things are going to happen, perishable items will do just that unfortunately, I'm sure it'll have happened to quite a few by now. Doesn't make it any less annoying but that's part of the 'fun' of running an older car I guess
