I've seen engines on 150k+ that run better than ones with half the mileage. Seems like it's just pot luck with these!
I was meaning just dropping another engine in without a rebuild when I was talking about risk. To me, getting another engine and fitting it to have it go bang a year down the...
I personally don't think it's worth dropping nearly £2k on a rebuild of a 2nd hand engine that could potentially run on with no issues as it is. It'd always be a risk putting another 2nd hand engine in but that's a lot of money to spend just to get rid of some risk IMO.
I noticed a decent difference as well on track. Mainly between two corners at knockhill. I used to be able to just avoid the limiter in 3rd, but I'm now well into 4th along that section. I fitted a lightweight flywheel at the same time though which will have added to the effect. Ratios on the FD...
Quality night tonight with the CSOC track night. Took me all year but the car finally feels like it should on track and I'm back to the pace I had last year. Not bad considering I'm still getting used to no ABS or power steering, and I've only ever done the wheel alignment by guessing lol...
Good to know mate. I seen similarly priced ones to that on amazon and was tempted to buy them but wasn't sure if they'd look s**t, but they look fairly decent!
Where did you get the badges out of interest? I need new ones for mine but I'm tempted to get a cheap set rather than pay the 60 odd quid BMW want for a new pair!
Can see the difference they make if you jack up the rear of a clio with one fitted. Can lift the whole rear of the car easily jacking it only on one side, instead of it leaving the other wheel on the ground.
I've had mine off the car for a while and it just doesn't feel anywhere near as lively...
Ph3 is just a slightly facelifted ph2. Front bumper is slightly different and a few other things IIRC. Think the digital temp and fuel gauge in the dash was part of it too. Campus is the ph4, although hardly ever called that.
Edit:

How long should a bottle of Cquartz DLUX last before going off if it's been properly sealed? Want to seal my refurbed alloys and I've got about half a bottle left somewhere but it's about 2 years old now.

Ecotune in Hillington or Performance HQ in Dalgety Bay are both reputable mappers in this area.
Installing cams would be a few hundred in labour from a specialist I'd reckon. It's a full belt replacement job plus a bit more and I'm sure I was 200ish for a belt and dephaser change alone.
Actually gutted I had to miss this for work 😞 then again, I've spent the night with food and drink on expenses and in 25 degrees of sunshine. Swings and roundabouts...
That van looks absolutely quality on the 2118s! Stand looks epic too. Some turn out for it!
Yeah I'd assume it'll be as Haybails says really. The organisers tend to want all the cars who will be on a particular stand to come in together, hence meeting up before and then convoying in, so it's usually just as easy to hand out wristbands and car passes at that point.
I paid £75 for it with the early bird discount, just looking to get back what I paid for it really. Feel free to make me an offer though
@Nik can you sort out the transfer of names please?
