Haha I recently did it with my civic. What I got for the OEM cat covered the cost of my new 421 manifold and a magnaflow sports cat (which is still sat in the shed as I fell in love with the sound and decided against welding it in lol)
Yeh I wouldn't bother, a 197 can be had for peanuts now.
By the time you've got the engine and put it in I bet your not far off the cost of a 197, and then You've got a Clio 3 with a good engine but a non rs chassis, brakes, suspension, and paying the cost of modified car insurance. Seems...
I'm surprised there's a thing left of your oe cat!
My phase 2 172 cat collapsed and I replaced it with a 90 quid cats2u cat which worked perfectly fine.
I wouldn't bother with a sports cat, even a decat doesn't really gain you much, so a sports cat for the price of them seems a waste of time
Sticky slider pins or a sticky piston would cause that.
Rebuild kits are only 20 quid from big red and come with new seals and pistons. Well worth doing.
Yeh the rears are a pain In the arse, once you've got the cage off, it's a bit of a pain in the arse but you can just about get an open ended spanner In there at a funny angle
Because if it's anything like on a 182 the AC pulley is ribbed, the deflector pulley isn't, so buy just using a smaller belt you risk the belt coming off.
On my 172 I removed the AC and replaced the deflector pulley with a ribbed idler pulley.
Made absolutely naff all difference though, I...
Not sure on value but I wouldn't pay over the odds unless you've got a mint phase 1 to put them on, I don't think they were ever that desirable anyway were they? And I seem to remember they are quite heavy and bend very easy
Why would you raise it so high lol.
There was plenty of room when I did mine on the middle hole of axel stands with a jack under the engine and one under the box to lower it down.
Either Renault parts direct or eurocarparts.
Euros will be cheaper for an O2 sensor though, I believe Bosch is the one you want. Front and rear are basically the same other than length of wire slightly different
No idea on the parts catalogue though, most parts are discontinued these days...
Yep, I ran mine like that for ages.
I think these are the parts I used
Part no's
Pulley is from a Saab 95 possibly
INA part no 532014610
SKF part no VKM34501
Belt is from a tdci Mondeo I believe
Gates 6pk1640
But belt will have numbers on it, so it's 6 ribs wide and 1640mm long
I had to used...
I think the issue with what you have done is that because the air con pump is ribbed and the deflector pulley isn't, the fact you have removed the ribbed section leaves the belt open to falling off.
Most people replace the deflector pulley with a ribbed idler pulley and run the belt over it so...
I have bought 2 from gsf, choose their premium option and it's always been a valeo.
It's a nightmare of a job to be honest, I bet it's a good 8 hours labour even on a ramp, took me a day an half on my driveway on axel stands and I did run into issues with the subframe bolts which added...
Can't agree with this more.
Sold mine a few months ago, absolute pile of junk.
The 1.5dci engine in it was shocking and the boot was smaller than a MK2 Clio
That spring won't cause the lever to go stiff, I removed it on my last 172 as it broke, all it did was make the shifter not spring back to central as quickly in neutral.
The ops video looks clearly seized to me
Meant to say yanoo stiff shift, he's a member on here called yanoo.
Pure Motorsport is the best shifter money can buy, it's a bit raw, but well worth it, can be bought from pure Motorsport. It's a full shifter from the gearbox to your hand.
I bet it's the shifter ball in the shifter housing.
Disconnect the linkage and check that it's not actually the gearbox selector been stiff, which I highly doubt, but worth checking.
Maybe time to upgrade to a taboo stiff shift or a PM's shifter?
