yea ph1 car, ph1 engine ph1 loom all original. earths are fine thats all been checked. odd that it will start and run but for the same amount of time every time. its as if fuel is cutting
So my PH1 engine has been apart and had new belts, dephaser, catcams, looms re taped....its now all back together and fires on the first turn of the key, however after seconds....nothing. Engine dies, no matter if i apply throttle or not.
any advice?
Thanks All!
this is the reply i had from EFI when in talks regarding the mapping
Thats right – in short, the 438 has the same lobe profiles as the 421, and with the 421 being more suited to ITB’s you should re-time the 438’s such that they act like 421’s. From memory the inlet timing is fine Mark but...
sure ive heard his name floating around before, im pretty sure people recommend to time the 438s up as the 421s for the best results. at least thats what a couple mates were told at RS tuning when having their engines mapped up with 438s at standard timing
okay so my ITB build is nearing completion, just have some small tinkering to do and withing a couple of weeks it should (fingers crossed) be ready for mapping at EFI. Prior to that i am wanting to get the engine timed correctly to suit the 438 catcams i have fitted (i believe they need timed to...
Im on the same as you the Michelin ex ginetta slicks, ive not tried any others as of yet and other than me flat spotting then they have lasted very well! would be tempted to try some other but at the price you can get the Michelins for ive never bothered
Id aggree with that tbh, it's not just the grip of the slicks but the feel on turn in with the stiff sidewalls is fantastic. I couldn't go back to running track day tyres now.
interestingly the car is quicker round croft than my last one which had the gripper diff but no RC and just toyo 888s. agreed that the slicks make a massive difference!
Heres a video of my quickets lap around croft (local track)
A video from a friends car following (prior to the ITBs and cams in mine) we always have a good battle at the end of the day on track
I haven't got a project thread to be honest. Spec wise, okay this might take a while I've never wrote up a full spec list before...
Engine:
Cat cam 438s
AT Power ITBs
R26 injectors
PMS AC delete
Mocal oil cooler
PMS catch tank
Suspension:
BC racing inverted mono tube adjustable coilovers with...
Thought id post a few photos of my PH1 track car, i can write up a spec list if people were interested :)
^^^ pushing my luck clipping a Tyre wall at croft, luckily all polished out!
I will upload the rest asap, been out the country so not had a chance to take the ones that are missing. And unfortunately it doesn't get the use it should. 4 miles a day to work and back and ive also got my PH1 track car which will be back out next season and will need towed to tracks.
As above, my Megane 265 trophy is now for sale! :(

The car will be running the AT power ITBs, CatCam 438s (properly timed by the looks of it) 182 manifold, Air-con delete and original PAS. seeing 200 would be nice.
I will see what his email says mate but seems like the best bet would be to get the car to you first off for the timing. How would you want the car? Ie cams fitted and timed to factory and you adjust or would you want to do belts and timing together? Whatever would work for you really. Then get...
where is this man! plan was to fit cams belt and bodies while the engine was out then take it for mapping....alternative might be to get them fitted, sort a base map and have them timed before mapping?
i have sent EFI an email, would be good to see if theres a solution to this. theres a couple lads running the 438s on standard timing around here so sure they wouldnt mind getting them timed properly too
Im up in Newcastle and there is no body local or any specialists who can help with this locally. It is going to go for mapping at EFI once its all finished but dont think timing is something they would adjust.... if standard will work well enough i might just have to go with that.
