Console install should be fine. It should uninstall McAfee (I think it's on the removal list) on installation. 2000 SP3? Get at least SP4 on there.. and I'd say 1GB-2GB RAM just to be safe.

Mac Messenger is awful. Adium is, probably, one of my favourite applications ever designed and programmed, so use that ;) (www.adiumx.com). It's the *perfect* example of a polished and functional application. There. :p

Well, you can buy it for longer terms than 2 years if you wish.. depending on the tld (.com is different to .co.uk... .com allows for yearly renewals if required, whereas .co.uk is minimum of 2 years) and regulations. Some allow 10 years, but yea, you'd have to renew it after that too.

Tortoise is simply a GUI interface to the SVN command? Heh. I guess you mean having files (probably plain text) in an SVN repository which can be checked out, checked in, etc? The main thing is to get people to keep things up to date - it has to be as EASY and as quick as possible.. otherwise...

You should get a letter warning you (I've known letters to go out even when it is connected, saying it's not).. it is in the contract though to have it connected all the time for the first 12 months.
