Have been asked to come up with some ideas for a first dslr for a child, needs to be complicated, I.e. lots of details and buttons as he's very intelligent and will easily get to grips with it.
Probably best sticking to Canikon so what gen 1 dslrs were gems and can be picked up for a...
70-80's I think! Lovely camera and very well respected with the em name still living on. Couple that with a decent lens and some fujifilm and you'll be having a riot!

We don't see many people shots and its about time we stepped away from landscapes so yeah best of british mate! Indeed I even added the 'where a person or persons is the main subject' so we didn't get a landscape or car shot with a person in it if you looked hard enough ;)

Well on one hand I would say why are you asking the night before but that wouldn't be much help to you ;)
If it were me my best people shots are taken at between 30 - 85mm using a minimum of F2.8 for some lovely subject/background separation.

Thanks guys, Dan that was the widest lens I had with me at the time but I agree with your point. Scott wasn't HDR mate, although it does have that crispness.
At that price its going up against far better models like the Sony NEX 5R or even 6! Its only Canons 'entry' level effort and it needs to be priced as such in the £300-400 category along with the other entry level mirrorless models.
