Photos are well exposed and composed but can't see the link between the seascape and them. Perhaps a more natural, intimate, cosy setting? They also look really unhappy, I too am all for natural light portraits. It is so important to have a rapport with the subjects so that they relax enough.
Cheers guys :o
Have reposted below as just tweaked it in lightroom and it now won't show above.
Was taken on a whim last Saturday when staying at my girlfriends. Conditions were so contrasty that I was struggling with exposure so I bracketed, but given the cloud movement was different on each...
It can be different for each focus point too, which is why you may not have noticed it before, generally only an issue at closer camera to subject lengths.
I did a GCSE in photography 1990-92. School only had fully manual slr's and could only stretch to black and white film, which you had to load onto reels (film cassettes) yourself!
It didn't teach me what makes a great picture, but it taught me everything about exposure, f stops, iso, shutter...
A good comp idea and congrats for winning the sports comp!
Almost any picture should throw up some nice textures, so a good universal comp that should attract some nice entries!
Are you sure you want to give it up so soon mate? It's as sharp as any ultra wide, in the central region, fractionally sharper than most! Yes its let down by it's corners but, I for one don't stick my subject in the corners! I have sold pictures taken with this lens and even had people comment...
Nice set mate,
#1 The pose is a little ungainly and the wire in the background distracting.
#2 Really like this one, the best imo
#3 the 'second' thing that struck me is the knees! The pose accentuates nobbly knees, purple footwear doesn't add to the general colour scheme
I have a sony nex3, so tempted to upgrade to the nex5r announced today. It has app support, which whildt initially seem gimmicky, think of all the potential such as extended bracketing modes and time lapse apps!
Thanks guys!
I would like to add one of these images to my 500px account, seems 1 and 3 are the favourites, may well go with 3 as its more an 'image' with the yellow tones!
I walked away from the scene after taking 'Yellow Italy' I had the shot I wanted, even though I knew the afterglow in the...
Thanks guys, it was very parched with no rain since april so i went for a yellow look lol.
Dan I used cokin gnd's up to 3 stacked as the light was so bright!

You may well be right but i also accept DK's comments above.
That said it would be kinder to all concerned to critique a photo after the comp has ended so as not to affect voting, though I do realise in this instance DK's already walked away with the prize so why not draw a line under this and...
It is rather ironic that Nikons (new) entry level SLR has better IQ (bar low light) than Canons full frame 5D mk3... (puts on flamesuit;))
That said I don't think you'' get a 3200 for this budget
Im sorry Dave but your not quite right, its quite possible to get everything in focus at 10mm using f5.6 or less. The following was taken at 10mm and f8 its front to back in focus and very sharp. Diffraction kicks in around f11 (softening of the image) and f16-f22 will give softer results...
I'll have to be honest whilst I enjoy cycling, running and walking to keep fit I have no interest in watching or participating in sports so sorry this months not for me!
Hi mate
If you check here you can see if you've been 'explored'!!! Usually people comment 'via' explore so you know that way.
