Sounds like the power steering pump is on it's way out but I'd take it to a specialist anyway. Since the PAS is driven from the AUX belt I'd get it seen to sooner rather than later. Also check your power steering fluid.

I'd hire a Mustang or something similar. I know it's been done loads of times but something I've always fancied.
