oh yeah check that the termininals are making a good contact with the battery posts this can give u a dodgey connection to make a good earth follow the neg lead to the base then remove bolt clean area and lead that u disconnected reassemble. check the battery water should b above then plates...

check that belt again mate make sure theres enought tension

flushing engines can casue all sorts of propblems would not reconmmend it unless its not your car lol. can lose compression as teh carbo fills teh gaps as been said already
