Unless it's using RPC-over-HTTP in which case, you might be seeing an internal address.. (9/10, people will be seeing an internal LAN address using that method I would say). You may be lucky and he's setup remote access using RPC, but... most just bottle it and create a VPN and use internal...
Not really- You need to contact them for the externally accessible address.
Depending on the setup, he may need to make some changes, but you're not going to know until you speak to him :)
I really like HP stuff, and I was starting to go off Dell stuff, then they release this!
Grr.. upsetting.. I'm really liking the new E series stuff - even the peripherals look awesome.

I'm really, really liking the new E4200. I have a Latitude D420 at the moment (12.1") and the new one just looks stunning.. but keeping the same size.
Hmm. No real pricing...
Depends.
You may do as it's off the shelf.
Takes about 7-10 days for something to come from China (which my MBP did when I bought that)
If you definetely need next day, and it's an iPod, get it from eBuyer, dabs etc who offer next day as an option.
In terms of desktop usage, not a chance Linux is ahead of OSX.. seriously. Infact, it's not even close, with any desktop environment, window manager etc.
OSX has every single benefit of using Linux, without most of the problems with using Linux.
Vista is OK. XP is OK. OSX is OK.
They all...
Well a router would make it look like you only have one device anyway.
I'd always use one, as it increases security too - all you need is a couple of Computer Science geeks on the same network, and they'll own you without a proper firewall.
Yep that would be fine.
But check with the Uni, as it may be against the terms and conditions of the connection.. (they may limit it to one device etc)
Just get a cable router.. (providing you're allowed to)
There are two types - ADSL and Cable. You need the cable (which is just standard CAT5/RJ45 for the WAN/Internet link)
Well, 3.4GHz would be the old Pentium D..
If you look at Dual Core CPU's now, you'll be looking at around 2.0GHz as a basic spec.. rising to around 2.4Ghz if you wanna spend a bit more.
Works fine in standalone - they even let you download a standalone version.
You just put your Sophos download details as the primary source for updates..
A desktop or a laptop with a quad core processor or Core 2 Duo (Core Duo also still around which can be had cheap) processor. Also get 2GB or more RAM.
Done.
