as other people have said everyone has hobbies,i know people who pay 2k for a fishing rod and i know other people who will spend a few grand on clothes at a time,i for one enjoy modifying and as long as i've paid the mortgage and i've saved a bit its up to me what i do with the rest, and yes i...
i can never understand why people pull an engine apart just for headwork especially on a 172 there not like an reno 5 where there in bits in about 10 minutes
why would you put a volkswagon engine in a 3year old clio, yes i know matt black did it but it was only a cheap 1.2 not a 172/182 and its just not meant to go in there he even said it was pulling all over the place cause of how the engine sat,and if you broke down who'd have a clue how to fix...
i no people on here will disagree but i've been told by people that throttle bodies will work well with the standard 172 cams as they arnt a bad profile standard
them 70mm throttle bodies are off 300bhp NA touring cars that rev to 10.000rpm totally overkill for a 200bhp clio,my mate who's got an efi R5 turbo runs a 54mm throttle body off a fiesta turbo and that was doing 13sec quarter miles when he was still running it in
i dont need to search it people like to think its gained them loads to make them feel better for paying £400 for a airfilter,a remap for just an airfilter would be a waist of money
even cams wont garentee 200bhp i now rolling roads arnt 100% but there was a 182 at that rolling road day at telford with cams etc that only made 150 odd atw
i paid £130 for the manifold which was off a low mile car so was like new and and just over £100 fitted so in my eyes i wouldnt say it was a waist of money an itg air filter costs more than that,my mate from reno mot'd on monday and i dropped it off at his house on the sunday night and he drives...
its more low down where the gains are i had mine rolling roaded before and after and its gained a load of torque low down and the curve is a lot smoother,i would show you the graph if i had a scanner, but on the road i think you can tell a difference it picks up really well low down
as said theres no point, especially a 67mm or whatever a few are running theres off 300bhp touring cars that rev to 10 grand its probably more likely to bog down at full throttle
nick at hillpower fitted mine, you have to drop the subframe etc although ive heard some people say you dont,i got mine cheap but it can work out very expensive if you brought a new manifold and then you need to make a link pipe as it wont line up with the cat back system
i dont know if the jesus's car run a 182 manifold but i know chris's does,i've got one fitted on my 172 and the gains lower dain are massive i've had it rolling roaded before and after and theres a massive torque gain low down, the lairy cams wont help low down either i suppose
yeah i know they can be but i've run mine on nicks 3 times now and its been handy to see where i've gained especially after having a 182 manifold & 100 cell cat the torque curve is so much smoother and has gained over 10 ft-lb of torque in low down
nicks rollers seem to be pretty much c**k on i ran my 172 there on friday, its not just about the figures it is also a good way of finding out if you have any problems or if a mod you've done eg a set of cams have lost you torque low down or whatever, and with nicks knowledge he's always good at...
i got a bit out of shape myself, too busy looking in my mirror at the radical coming up behind on the 1k straight and carried a bit to much speed round the left hander
