Shame its so pricey to do RWYB at Elvington... York Dragway is literally a couple of miles down the road and much cheaper...
You have the advantage of the top speed runs at Elvington though!
Cant be any worse than a GTi-6 mate... Im half way through doing mine now and fcuk me what a bad job that is to do!!!
I am fooked, been at it all day and will be finishing it off tomorrow.
Powerzone is no more... or so I was told this week when I rang Mini Sport!? :o
However, the rolling road is still there and like Matt says, Rob the operater is well clued up and knows his stuff!
Also try RE Performance Centre in Bury
So you have evidence to back this up then!?
In my opinion, transmission loss should not alter with power, the loss is caused by the rotating mass of the gears, driveshafts, etc, and the resistance of the bearings, tyres, etc... so this will be the same for 200bhp or 300bhp with the exact same...
Ok....
229bhp @ wheels with a "rule of thumb" 15% transmission loss means this is 85% of the 100% @ fly figure, so with some cunning trickery called maths we get >>>
((229 / 85) x 100) = 269bhp @ fly
Working that the other way round, 285bhp @ fly would equate to 242bhp @ wheels...

Tyres make a massive difference to a cars performance in the wet compared to the dry, but pressures can also have quite an affect!
Slowing down in the wet is always a good idea though...
Well... its passed!!! :D
Basically, in his opinion, no rear seats means no rear seatbelts and vice-versa, so if either was still there it would fail, but as both were removed it passed as they cannot be tested.
Ahaaaaa... I forgot about that...
I know this bloke quite well though, so fingers crossed itll pass, but if not Ill be bringing it over the see the big ginger MOT tester! ;)
Our 106 GTi is getting MOTd tomorrow matey... thats stripped out at the rear with no seats & no seatbelts, but has got the normal leather sports seats and seatbelts up front.
However, I am a little concerned that the lack of rear seats & seat belts may fail it... especially after reading your...
Very true... this mk1 172 my mate had was not that special when it was new, was never as quick as it should be and was down on power on the rollers, however as the miles racked up it got better & better...
So these are actually gonna happen!!! :o
Thought it was gonna be another load of bull like the options we were meant to get for the 107 Cup... still waiting...
Yeah, Ive had a Phase 2 and Ive got a Phase 1 now...
Basically an S16 with the extra power and the 6-speed box, and weighs practically the same as the Rallye! ;)
Not sure if there ever was an official weight for the revised Phase 3, as Pug just quote 1215kg for that shape of car.
However the Phase 1 (like mine) is a lighter car, basically weighs the same as the Rallye, but I still have leather & electrics, although no aircon, no auto wipers, no extra...
There are other cars just as good and just as quick out there, but for a brand new car out of the showroom, the Clio Sports are difficult to beat, especially for the money...
