The battery should have a lip on the bottom and that bracket with the 13mm bolt hold the battery down by clamping down against the lip.
As for the thing in the picture, looks like a pic to me, someone probably dropped it down their and thought f**k it I cba to get it out.
Once you've taken them torx screws out theirs two pins that hold it in place, you can just pull the light out with a bit of force or you can get a flat headed screw driver down the side to help prize it off.
They are very reliable and cheap cars but if neglected they can become costly.
Lots of little niggerly things with these, faulty tdc sensors, leaky rear shock, play in track rod ends, inner rack joints and top mounts, faulty coil packs etc.
Yeah that might work but failing they do just pop in and out yes, or might screw in, I can't remember but their a peice of piss once the dash top is off.
