You could possibly trim the slam panel down - but I remember when I tried to refit mine with the 90mm trumpets in place that the locking mechanism was only about 5-10mm away
I remember thinking about the only thing that would fit is socks and they sap power
Even that filter you've linked...
LOL In my previous experience there for "car show" days like FCS - more exciting = lots of people going home on recovery trucks
It's not a very forgiving track for people who misjudge it :(
Nope - there's no room for a filter - you have to lose the slam panel with nearly all jenvey setups unless you run really small trumpets and then you're just sacrificing power :(
The 90mm trumpets on mine just about touched the slam panel without a filter fitted
They're those silly captive nuts that just clip into a hole - you need to soak them with WD40 for a few days before you start, I did that when I dropped my subframe to fit my 182 manifold and still one of the bolts wouldn't undo :(
If they start spinning around it's nearly impossible to get a...
That write up from Fred sounds easy but it's a b**ch
The bolts holding the steering rack to the subframe are nearly impossible to get too - that's why most people undo the pinch bolt on the end of the steering column - then you can lower the subframe 4-6" with the steering rack still attached...
That's the main reason I've kept mine - with all the euro emissions crap these days the only way to make a quick car is boosted. It's one of the last big engined N/A french hatchbacks.
Ahh yeah non-cup so yours is ABS controlled - as Dan has said I'd check they're freed up. The rear calipers are a s**t design in my opinion, they seize up quite easily.
Just jack one rear corner up and see if they spin freely
Could be the shocks - but they'd have to be VERY wrong to make the...
Simply not true, if I had the time I'd pull out some quotes, but things like "It's not a very good engine to start with" are thrown around quite a lot aswell as people saying there are much better cars for the money.
Maybe it's just the impression I get because I mainly talk to the same group...
:D thanks mate
It's been very well looked after - I certainly haven't scrimped on anything it has needed.
Sir_Dave put a ton of motorway miles on it while he had it, and it's been to the 'ring and back twice which put about 7k alone on it
It's getting back to average mileage now though cos I...
The cost of things is a huge issue and I have no idea why
ITB's on a clio - £2.5-3k, ITB's on a 106 £1500
Roll cage on a clio - £800+, Roll cage on a 106 £200
KW V2's on a clio - £1k+, top spec coilovers on a 106 £500
They're both french cars from similar eras - I really can never...
Mines on 117k, original drive shafts, gearbox, head gasket etc.. - it's had one cambelt and dephaser change but just coming up to needing another one now
Made over 170bhp standard and now makes 195bhp with jenvey ITB's etc... get's ragged to death around track and it never skips a beat
Well...
I guess that makes sense - the people with saxos/106s etc.. generally are their first fast car, not many buy something better and then go back to be honest
This place does seem to have a lot of people who've owned clios, gone onto something else and then come back.
It's still a bit weird...
This is a genuine question, I'm not s**t stirring or trying to start a war..
Coming from 106owners people on there will defend 106's to the death, they destroy everything on track blah blah etc..
SaxP is the same and so is every other car forum I've dealt with, full of people passionate...
^^ Entirely this
I got talked into viewing my Cup by Sir_Dave as it was one of his old cars and although he'd chucked 60k on it in 2 years it had 2-3 oil changes a year, regular proper services and a book of invoices 2" thick
I bought it 2 years ago with about 90k on the clock and it's...
Eh? I didn't quote anything? And of course I'm still here :|
You realise that going to buy some wheels IN PERSON and then complaining about them and taking the young lad to court afterwards is the equivalent of me going to buy a new camera, looking at just the box, paying cash and then winging...
Gotta say there's a LOT of this thread spent moaning about buying stuff
You bought wheels and they turned out to be the wrong colour when you washed them? Well you collected them could you not have noticed that or rubbed one with a rag before paying?
Went to buy wheels and one was buckled which...
Yeah as above - it doesn't reduce the vibration it stops the knocking.
Leave the gearbox and bottom dog mount loose then grab the top of the engine near the drivers side engine mount and pull it forward then tighten that mount and then the gearbox top mount and then the dogbone mount
It just...
