If it felt flat then there was an issue with the car.
And no it's not a placebo affect - I drive a diesel passat every day and when I get in the clio is makes me grin like a nut case
^^ REALLY????
Mines got 10bhp less than that and there's rarely anything on the road I have a play with that it doesn't beat.
The powers instant, the torques addictive and the noise is amazing
I must admit if I was doing it again the same money would go on a supercharger, but there's no way...
You can cam AND ITB a car for just over 2k?
Second hand ITB kits are £1500, mapping free if you risk doing it yourself, but then you need oil/coolant etc.. cams at £600
I think you'd be struggling - just the little bits (bolts, nuts, mounts, etc..) when I did my ITB's easily added up to a...
I didn't say you don't get an improvement - I just said personally I think £1500 on top of £3k for ITB's just just another 10bhp or so isn't FINANCIALLY worth it...
Buy some second hand ones, fit new powerflex bushes and a new balljoint - job done. Then you're sure you've got the right ones and all new & better parts :D
I'm still not sold on cams AND itb's
I run jenvey itb's with omex - 2nd hand kit, all in cost me about £2300 including mapping.
Went from around 169 standard to 194bhp - big jump
People on here who have fitted just cams and a remap have also seen 190ish bhp - for about £1500
But if I...
Maybe some people are slightly put off by the already very fast clio's in the tin tops LOL
And also like you say the car builds would be 5-6k - not 30k like some of us ;)
This sums up my feelings too
I was really excited to see this - but using a 182 cup is insanity. The parts are much harder to find and more expensive (hubs, bearings etc...) and the different bolt pattern on the suspension to every other 172 made..
They should have gone with ph2 172 -...
Just added complexity, more things to go wrong etc...
My OCD feels comfier with a 15mm hubcentric spacer and some very good quality studs with nuts than it does having spacers bolted to hubs and then wheels bolted to spacers... dunno why
Also as James has run the same setup on his all last...
Oh sweet thanks for that
Getting 15mm behind-hub spacers on the rear from Ed with -1 camber, then H&R hub centric 15mm on the front
Tony - you can't get 15mm bolt-to-hub spacers, there's not enough meat in them for the wheel bolts to go into
They didn't estimate any numbers, they got pushed out of Donington and Combe was the only place left to book due to how late in the year it is to be booking a summer show.
Also I doubt FCS can run on smaller profits - from what I understand of previous shows it barely scrapes through covering...
Phone lincolnshire police - explain you sold the items and he denies receiving them and got a refund - send them the pics
They will go round
Also - there's enough of us local so if you get stuck 3 or 4 of us will pop round and get them back for you ;)
I love driving my car - but not south on the weekend that summer holidays start stuck behind families in people carriers stopping every 20 miles to let my radiator cool down just to get to a square track in a farmers field ;)
I'd say donington is worth the hassle a fair bit more than combe is...
DS2500's aren't poor - they're perfect for what they're designed for - road and occasional track. They brake well from cold which is essential on a road car but still cope fairly well with track abuse.
If you cook any brakes they're gonna die
If you're really hammering a track session then...
It's an AWFUL drive to get to combe - takes me about 4hrs and I'm smack bang in the midlands lol
I wouldn't mind but it's a very boring track, 20 cars on combe will be *yawn*
The cost of getting down there and camping/hotel etc.. would pay for a track day at Donington - I know what I'm gonna...
That explains a lot - a mate of mine went through 4 sets of expensive EBC pads and they all fell apart. Unfortunately I think those problems were very damaging to their reputation
*ahem* ;)
This is the response I think most people will give - it's a 4hr drive each way for me which means I won't be going even though my club probably will be.
I think 106owners are now looking at doing their own day (like CSS) purely because of how far away and awkward combe is to get to.
Horrible...
