Update
Right then - I've been doing a lot of thinking about the Clio recently and what I want to do/achieve this year
The bodies are awesome, suspension is amazing, brakes put you through the window. All good stuff. However the engine is on 118k and although the cambelt and dephaser look new...
hehe yeah I remember from fitting the 182 manifold how much of a PITA it was
I think you can lower the rear section a few inches without fully removing the subframe which should help me get all the pipes removed
Thanks for the part number - I can't make my mind up whether to fit some cheap...
Looks like the column will be £75 as I need the ECU too - but yeah priced it all up tonight and it comes to £290 in parts, then just my own time at weekends on top :)
Do you have to drop the subframe to take the rack off?
No I wouldn't buy the TRE's from renault - but I believe you have to buy the inner tie rods genuine as they're longer on the cup?
Do you know if that rack part number is ok Fred? I wanna get it bought before someone else does - RS Twingo rack's seem rare lol
Been pricing these bits up since I got my advisory on the MOT for play in the steering
Twingo rack - £50
DCi/1.2 clio column - £45 approx.
EPAS wiring box - £45
But then the Cup Inner Tie Rods appear to be about £50 per side! then 2 track rod ends which again are £45 per side from...
They're expensive but VERY worth it
When walking around crowded events like BTCC I just keep one hand on it and in seconds it can be up at eye level and taking shots
Not sure this qualifies
It's a purposely underexposed dark gritty shot
Cadwell Park Track Day - 17th March 2013 by Phil_Barker, on Flickr
I'll have a think and see if I can do something else before the deadline
The're the usual shite quality you get form the "pros" on track days - the brands hatch one is fecking terrible
Sadly I can't take the pics and drive at the same time ;)
When I'm walking around with my body and a big zoom lens at track I have it on a black rapid RS7
It's the one thing I would never sell I love it to bits
Mounted to the tripod mount on the lens you can actually angle the camera slightly and can go from it swinging by your hip to in hand and...
I know you probably don't want the hassle - but they are just a steel plate at the end of the day. If you borrowed one from somebody you could get some cut
OR... drill a couple of holes in the top of your harness bar - ask Stu nicely to weld you a couple of nuts into it and put harness eyes...
Try and stretch to a 450D - the 400D is extremely old technology now. I hate to say it but the money you'd spend on a 400D you could get a better spec'd nikon as they are generally just a lot cheaper
If Ian doesn't fix them - and I'm sure he will - I would be tempted to treat the hole as just a threaded hole into the caliper, whack a banjo on it with a good old fashioned copper washer to seal - then fit those bleed nipples into the end of the banjo..
As long as there's clearance before...
LOL have you read your own post
You were stating they didn't do the first refurb correctly - then only did a good refurb because of the damaging post appearing on google which your mate removed because he'd got a free refurb. Not exactly singing the praises of customer services
I think the "you must be s**t" comment was enough need to be honest.
I'm no expert but I've had 6 different cameras and over 20 different lenses over the last 5 years and taken a lot of motorsport shots from drifting, to BTCC to just average trackdays. Being told I'm s**t because I have an...
No offense mate but you're saying that because you're selling a D40 at the moment
This... is not a good motorsport shot
The shutter speed is too fast, there is no motion in the picture. It looks like someone has parked their porsche and gone for a cup of tea.
Do you have any panning shots...
So auto-focus motor speed has nothing to do with tracking a moving target?
Nonsense - I know pro photographers that if I gave them a 40mm STM lens on a 1000D wouldn't be able to get a single decent shot of a moving touring car.
If you're an amateur you will get much better results from a...
Yeah I didn't realise that haha
I pulled the 172 one out the top (no inlet manifold as I'm on ITB's)
Threw it away, fitted a new starter motor, went to fit the 182 one and went "DOOHHHHHHHH" so loudly I suspect people in nottingham heard me lol
3 hours on my back undoing subframe bolts...
There's no point if he's listed "motorsport" as something he wants to take photos of
Trust me a D40 with a budget lens trying to shoot something that's moving will be the most frustrating thing ever.
There's nothing more de-motivating than going home with a memory card full of blurred photos
You did it in the stupidest way possible - if Bilstein now email admin saying they've found this thread through google searches and it's damaging to their reputation and libellous then it will get deleted too
That's the ONLY reason I'd do it
I fitted a 182 manifold to mine as I had the 172 manifold off to fit a new starter motor and thought it'd be easy
It was still a full afternoon job to drop the subframe down low enough to get the manifold through. But at least I can switch between a sports...
I didn't say they were the same money - I said I would never buy a D40 over a 50D even if it does mean saving £150
He's got a £600 budget so why buy something as s**t as a D40?
Plus the nikon budget bodies with no AF motor just sting you with expensive lens prices. The 50mm f1.8 is a...
*sigh*
How do you read several people explaining threads like this get removed because of libellous comments from people not directly affected - then go into "a mate of mine" and a rant about a completely different company?
I think this thread should get locked for future reference before it...
I would NEVER buy an entry level D40 over a 2nd hand Canon 50D if I wanted to do motorsport photography
The 50D is metal bodied, very robust, fast auto-focus
The D40 does a shitty 2.5 shots per second where the 50D will do 6.3 shots per second
That matters when you're out taking photos of...
