Yh if your ok on the spanners do the cambelt yourself, their not as bad to do as the 1*2's and if a traders get the belts done you can bet it will be by Fred in the shed with pattern parts.
Plus you could save yourself a few quid as you said.

For me I love the thought of a 200 but the chocolate gearbox and depreaction would come in to my mind too Much for me to enjoy it. For that reason I'd get a 1*2 or 197 and wait a couple years for the 200 to drop in value.

Niether 172 or 182 arnt suffering from rust yet. As for which one in your price range its going to be a 172 as your be hard pushed to get a 182 and if you did it would probably be a mega millage nail.
Sorry to burst your bubble dude but the cambelts on these are very important, very exspensive to do and very exspensive to fix if they go wrong. So when I said my comment I Wasent being sarcastic I was just saying that talk is cheap and I wouldn't be taking the the risk it would have to be done...
