Legally you do not have to carry a spare. Yes you can go on the Motorway without a spare wheel. The only legality with a Spare is that it must be road legal (Tread depth).

I have the same dents on mine, Were caused by a careless garage pushing the bonnet closed rather than dropping it. Spoke to my Local Bodyshop and they said it would be doubtful they could get a decent finish.
