    106 Rallye

Cherished 16v - You wanna try a 106 GTi then... ;) Even quicker than the Rallye and youre right, the handling is superb! Cant compare a 106 Rallye to a Cup though.

    106 Rallye

    Err... the 1.6 Rallye does NOT only have 90bhp and it is much quicker than the 1.3 version... Series 1 Rallye: Engine - 1.3 8v Power - 100bhp @ 7200rpm Torque - 80lb/ft @ 5400rpm 0-60 - 9.6secs 0-100 - 29.5secs Speed - 115mph Series 2 Rallye: Engine - 1.6 8v Power - 103bhp @ 6200rpm...

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

No its not... Well, not in this case anyway. Compare speed & revs to a 172 and youll see 6th is similar to 5th, as this is not just a 5 speed box with an extra ratio stuck on top!

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

Not in the 306. Book speed is 140mph for starters... Also, 6th is not a high gear in this case, look at what a 172 revs at when doing 120mph in 5th, its similar to the 306s 6th gear. They will pull easily in 6th and much faster that 122mph!

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

The speed for 6th is not max speed (obviously) mate... Not quite sure why they picked 122mph or even 6035rpm?! Not even like they picked say 120mph or 6000rpm, its just random! Will pull strongly in 6th though and waaaaay past 122mph too! ;)

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

LOL I have an AutoCar test of the Rallye when they were launched, so I am sad too! ;) Mid range is superb in the Rallye and they have a lot of low end torque, which combined with that 6 speed gearbox means great mid range punch! Did you think that 1st & 2nd were geared a little...

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

LOL It seems most magazines are inconsistent mate... ;) Like I said though, having driven a mk1 172 a LOT, I disagreed with the Autocar results and said they were definately better than that. Dont forget though, all cars are different!

    106 Rallye

Not really... They share some common bits yes, but different head, different cam, different ECU, mated to a much closer box, etc... they are a totally different engine driving wise. The rev 1000rpm higher than the VTR, have more peak power, but less low end grunt and more of a "shove" when...

    VTS Power

Jesus!!! :o That guy in the VTS is giving it some stick... Bet the TT driver had a huge shock when he saw a little 1.6 litre Saxo chasing and keeping up with him. :D Good effort.

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

I asked what the in gear times were, then I can find the Rallye ones and compare them to both the mk1, mk2 & Cup (if possible). What do you get for say 30-70 (through gears), 30-50 (in 4th) and 50-70 (in 5th), etc... You tell me what ones you wanna know and Ill see if I have them. As for...

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

Ive got some in gear times and braking times, etc... at home. Will find them and let you know. Dont forget that the 306 Rallye has also got a close-ratio 6 speed box... So that affects in gear times and mid-range.

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

    Curious as to where you are getting your 0-100 time from??? From what Ive seen, it will not do it in the 17s mate... Clio 172 mk1 - 0-60 - 6.6secs 0-100 - 18.2secs Clio 172 mk2 - 0-60 - 7.1secs 0-100 - 18.9secs So (compared to the 306 Rallye) the mk1 is 0.3secs faster to 60 &...

Peugeot 306 Rallye - not that quick(!)

Pillesnoppen - Well seeing as how you had a 306 Rallye and now have a Clio Cup to replace it, you will be a very good person to ask how much slower a Rallye is in real life... I agree about bigger wheels too, they can really alter a cars performance and handling... Only moved from the...
