dunno whether the 172 has caliper pins,if they are the same as my 1.6 brakes in style then you wont need any pins as the pads wedge in and then they have the anti rattle springs

just needs stripping down and putting back together,had it on an old saxo and it wouldnt stop squeaking.the above sorted it for me

sounds like a caliper is sticking,does it pull to one side when you brake?

they are e-torx bolts that are holding the box on the back. you need to unscrew the filler tank in order to get enough room to remove it,take off the black air filter box you ringed in the first pic then you have to literally pull the whole engine forward whilst you manouvre it out from behind...

thats because you have to remove the box from the rear of the engine bay cos at that point its a rectangular-ish shape,whereas ive put mine straight to the throttle body
