Given the choice between a 1.2 Clio or 206GTI and you had to get from A to B in the quickest possible time, which car do you think you would be quicker in?
Surely this has got to be a wind up!
I beat a Caterham R500 in my Sinclair C5, though this is not ordinary C5, its been upgraded to 2.0KW Hotpoint Washing machine motor.
A friend of my has one with a huge SS exhaust and 2 stage boost, imported from Japan. They are pretty damn quick, 150bhp, between 800kg and 900kg, not much between it and a 172 at traffic light grand prixs although it will run out of puff by 70mph. Not bad for a 1.3!

If I had the choice back in Oct 2001, I would probably save up another grand to make £17K and go for the Leon CupraR. My reasons are:
210bhp thats easily tuneable to 260+bhp, its the same engine as the Audi S3/TT 225bhp
german build quality - better built than the Clio and the CTR,

Simon, Do you know if the Group N ECU will work on MkII172, bearing in mind its got FBW throttle?
Let us know if its affected normal drivability, ie not snappy in traffic or has no low down torque, etc.
Cheers

Slayer youve been rummbled and still not man enough to admit it!
Id say South Essex is north London area.
Why dont you buy and drive your own car instead of your girlies car? Does it have the tasteful dolphins down the side of the BM too? Looks like she wears the pants in your house...

Rather than start another exhaust topic, does anyone have any opinions of Powerflow exhausts? I popped into Topgear garage in St Albans and asked about their exhausts, but werent to forthcoming with info and get the impression they wont win any prizes for customer care, no brochures, price...
But with 17" will it affact acceleration ie, take longer to get to a certain speed? The rolling radius difference is about 7mm increase for 17" therefore will it not require more power to turn the wheel and therefore reduce acceleration?
Has anyone compared performance differences between...
I too would like to know. Ive heard good things about this on the Saxo forum and also wonder how it compares to the BMC airbox performance and price wise.
the MkII 172 have High Intensity gas Discharge head lamps. Dont confuse them with aftermarket xenon light bulbs. These are not your regular H1,H4, H7 etc bulbs. By all means get the aftermarket xenon bulbs, but dont expect to get the same light intensity or same look as HID lamps.
