Mine spends most of its time up the drive at home or in the garage. Its purely a pleasure time car.I sometimes take it down the lanes towards farndon through aldford but havent been there recently.
I'll be at Oulton Park on monday marshalling so the car will be on the side of the circuit...
Bad luck mate. I know you're still quite young and havent got the experience but time will come when you will learn to read the road conditions and how they change with the weather. Dont try and brake hard going into a corner, all you will do is unbalance the car and throw it off line. Get all...
They are all fitted under the seat I reckon. My car has a multichanger, but no cassette for the CD's. Is it possible to buy a cassette anywhere or do I have to buy a new CD changer? I thing Renault used a fairly expensive system when they fitted them at the factory.
Spotted a tasty looking silver W reg 172 parked in northgate street in chester tonight. It was in nice condition but had a broken front fog lamp. does it belong to anyone on here?
I've found another tweak with the computer recently. I've got a Nissan Primastar with the same sort of computer on the dash, and if you hold the buttton in on the end of the stalk while you turn on the ignition it will go into diagnostic mode and check a ll the warning lights are working and...
I've had mine since september and love driving it.I spent quite a lot on it when I got it on sorting niggles with tyres, brakes etc , but its been ultra reliable so far. I'm just about to take the car over to northumberland via the A686 over Alston moors from Penrith.
If you are buying a 172...
Skimming discs isnt worth it. Just let the brakes cool down before you park up or if in traffic with hot brakes, keep your foot off the brakes to stop the pads creating hot spots on the discs. Shut the engine off in traffic and leave the car in gear if its likely to roll while stationary, but...
Have you checked the plug leads are dry inside. Its possible there's condensation inside if its got wet at all. That will cause intermittent misfire which will make the engine run roughly.
If its misfiring, take off the plug leads and make sure they arent wet inside. Condensation gets trapped inside. If you have been washing the engine at all its highly likely the leads are soaking wet. Cut a series of small V cuts in the rubber sealing rings round the outside of each pencil coil...
too much negative camber will scrub the edge off the tyres very quickly. you need to be very careful when altering set ups like this. If the geometry is all wrong, the car will handle really badly.
I have a set of wolfrace Octane 15" rims that will fit a clio. 6x15 with 195/50x15 tyres. As new. They were on my citroen xsara and I took then off before I sold the car to get my clio. The rims are black spokes with chrome rims. I want £275 for them.PM me if any use. Thanks.
The rims will fit...
205's are too wide for the clio. The standard width is 195/50. Ive got 195/50x15 tyres on my 172. I've got a pair of pirelli P6000 tyres n my garage for sale. 195/50x15. As new, they were bought for the clio a few months ago, before I got a set of proxes for it. £40 for the two of them if anyone...
Mine is X reg. Hasnt got ally bonnet. It has the shift light though. And yes its silver. Most of the X reg's were. Some in blue or black as well. Insurance is group 16.
You have to be careful where you put the jack on the sill. There are reinforced sections at either end for jacking the car. its better to get a trolley jack on the chassis somewhere or under the suspension somewhere solid and jack it there, then get stands under the car for safety before working...
The 172 can be imroved by lightening and balancing the engine and uprating the cams and going to throttle bodies. Depends how big your wallet is. A friend of mine who used to work for Renault design in France has a 172 Ph1 and he's getting 220 bhp from his engine. They're as quick as any impreza...
What you will find is better is to make sure the engine has plenty of cold air getting into the induction. A K&N on its own wont do that. The air filter will be sitting behind a hot radiator sucking in warm air so no real improvement over a standard filter system. Its probably better to retain...
Just slow down in the bad weather. Its not rocket science! Start fooling around in snow and ice and its only a matter of time before you come a cropper.
My catch still needs replacing. It wont fly up as long as its regularly lubricated with WD40 or similar. I also have a Nissan Primastar thats new, and the catch is identical to the clio. The only reason they flew up was lack of maintenance. The metal gets rusty and gets stuck in the plastic...
I've seen the MX5 challenge cars on the track on the marshals days we've had, and believe me, they're awesome! Probably something to do with the loons that race them so know the limits of the cars. There's not much that gets past them anywhere on the track!
