R1-R's were launched at Autosport show. They are between the R888 and T1-R. They are meant to be very good in all conditions and road legal. I'm looking to get some on mine next time around .
There is a leaflet that comes with DS2500 pads about the bedding in procedure. Make sure you read it before you start bedding the pads in. its quite specific about certain points. I cant recall exactly what it said but I stuck as close as possible to the recommended method and didnt experience...
Toyo have recently launched their new R1-R tyre at the Autosport show. Its a road legal track tyre that is between the T1-R and R888 tyre. Said to be very good in all conditions unlike R888's. Look on their website for outlets as not all Toyo dealers will be selling the R1-R's. I'm planning to...
Ring K-Tec racing for brake pads and discs. They have some on offer at the moment. I ordered a set of Brembo discs and DS2500 pads for my 172 last week.
Its likely that the brakes havent bedded in yet. A lot of the high performance brakes need a rigorous bedding in period before they work properly. I've had DS2500 pads on the front of my Clio 172 and there are very specific instructions about bedding them in properly when they are first fitted...
My 172 is a ph1 that I paid £1900 for. It needed a few things sorting but overall its been a cracking car. Insurance was cheaper than the wifes' astra 1.6 automatic! Not sure why ,but wasnt about to ask!
The bonnet catch recall was due to lack of maintenance causing the safety catch to stick and allow the bonnet to fly up. The same catch is still fitted to new vehicles. My Nissan van has same catch mechanism. Its good idea to spray all the moving parts with silicone spray regularly,especially...
Whats the point? It wont pass MOT without the cat unless you know some way round that. Most cats dont make that mcuh difference on power especially on a small engine. Leave it as it is and fit a catback performance system.
Demon Tweeks will make you a custom exhaust in stainless. Saw them fitting one last time I was there. No idea how much but they are usually competitive.
I've tried fitting a standard airbox with green filter in it instead of cone filter. Took it on a track day and it seemed down on power compared to the cone filter. I've now got the cone filter back on and got a better airflow to it by strapping the cone filter to the inner support of the wing...
The mid section is only available from renault, none of the exhaust places sell them. The only other option is a cat back system and they are expensive and not always a good fit. Demon Tweeks will make a system up but again you get what you pay for.
It will break completely if not welded properly. Looks like its been cut with a hacksaw?Yuo could get it welded and sleeve it as well with steel sleeve and weld that as well for extra strength
The rear ABs rings aren't built onto the disc/hub assembly, they are an interference fit and if the rear hubs have been disturbed the rings sometimes stay loose for a while til a bit of rust builds up to hold them in place. If the shaft is grinding its likely that the cv joint is seizing.
Check all contact points. Its common to get corrosion build up on wiring connectors. I had problems with front fogs, and cleaned all connectors and soaked with WD40 , they all work now. Its a tedious job but worth going through it all .
If you hold the reset button in while you switch ignition on you can check level of oil and amount of fuel in tank. The instruments will all come on and check lights all light up. My Nissan does same thing as its got renault dash.
If the windscreen is getting a greasy film on it the heater matrix is leaking. The film is coolant. It will leave a sickly sweet odour in the car as well. A bloody pain, but sounds like matrix needs changing and aircon needs check as well. I had a xsara that was like that, got rid.
sounds like the heater matrix is weeping slightly and aircon is low on gas causing it not to work. I had a citroen xsara with the same saga, got rid and bought the 172.
The connectors for the fog lights are prone to corrosion where they join the loom in the left wheelarch. Mine dont work but I know the relay works as it makes a noise when you switch them on. Its a job I need to sort this next week or so.
My horn was only working on one tone for ages so I took the wheelarch liner off under the left front wing and checked the connections for the twin horns. It turned out that the spade connectors were corroded so I replaced all of the connectors and cleaned the ends of the wires before putting new...
