The head gasket has started to go, but to be honest it is not to bad...
1. building conversions costs more than buying a decent (fast) clio,
2. conversions are harder (impossible) to insure
furthermore, if you want to do something different and like the challenge of doing a conversion, why are you asking what people thing you should do??! pick an engine that hasnt...
I did mean that, bt as above, you technically need to use custom shocks that are slightly shorted from what I've been told.
However I've not really researched it so can't say for certain!!
You could call it epic, or you could just call it lazy of renault!!
MK2s have a wider front track by around 5mm than the clio williams, (which is 27mm wider than the clio valver track iirc)
mk2s also have a thicker anti-roll bar i think
the mk1s have 269mm front brakes compared to 280mm front brake on the mk2.
and the mk2s have shocks and springs rear beam...
kinda need to know what the spacing is between the bolts on the 172 cup suspension.
ive been told its 54mm just like the regular 172 bolt spacing, is this true??
thanks
Love it, think red turinis work really well on icebergs!
thought id add these for you, as those pics really dont do the car justice, and to remind you that youve left your car outside my house!! lol
i had the same problem as you about 6 months ago, i splashed all my money on a mk1 williams,
and the clutch plate snapped a week later!! with no money to spend on labour i had no choice to take a crack at it myself!!
took me two evenings to do on my own, and that engine bay was far more...
im pretty certain theres no screws for the rear card,
take the speaker out, and you may have to take the front seatbelt anchor off too,
then pull it away starting from the bottom!!
theres a car around my area thats sporting a similar sticker,
but it's "lower than a crack heads morals"
it makes me lol tbh! and the car is silly low so it pulls it off
this should really be made into a stick or a guide!!
friend of mine bought a 172 with this exact problem, an hour of swearing late and its all fixed, with a grand bill of £0!! minus the cost of the cable tie!!
hardest thing i found was getting the cover off, my 6mm socket was too chubby for...
im pretty certain there is no law against removing a cat, providing the car still passes an emissions test.
OBVIOUSLY the car wont pass an emissions test, but without testing it at the roadside, they cannot prove this!!
ive had my car checked over many times by police (they like pulling me...
well assuming you can get 2k for a 172, and hes talking about spending 2k, id say a budget of £4,000
of course you could have a better car for the money you spend on a clio, but all id want to do if i bought a better car, would be spend money on it!!
and its not about having a better car...
on the other hand, i bought my mk1 for about £1000,
and ive spent most of my weekends building it up, and god knows how much money.
its by my hobby and i have no regrets on the money that "ill never see again" because ive got so much enjoyment out of driving it, the money ive spent is more...
some people love their money too much.
dont let people tell you how to spend yours!!
sure most of the 172's with money spent on them will be for track, but that doesnt make them any more likely to get the money back!! if it's your hobby and its something you enjoy, spend as much money as you...
pollybush suspension,
pollybush dogbone,
coilovers,
topmounts,
tyres,
decat,
matched inlets,
remap,
steeringwheel,
HC discs and decent pads
would be what i would do
