Pointless asking for Windows advice here. Most people that will reply are Linux fan boys or Anti Microsoft (Except when it comes to Xbox). What issues are you having that you are looking to improve on? Performance, Funtionality?

XP was released in 2001. You are installing the latest Ubuntu release which will obviously have more drivers integrated.

You don't have to install all of those drivers separately on Windows. Maybe if you have the latest hardware for every component you'll need to because Windows won't have inbox drivers, but then surely Ubuntu suffers the same problem?
