Random question but does anyone know if the standard headunit in a 1.2 MTV edition was of better quality than the phase 1 172 standard headunit. Reason I'm asking is that I'm burrowing someone's MTV edition clio and the sound quality sounds is much better (crisper, clearer, louder) than my 172...
As said before 4-2-1 I'd for low down grunt 4-1 for top end, was used to get the fat lumbering 182 moving so it could try and keep up with the 172(specifically the phase 1) lol
Quick question if the car is running I.e idle and you unplug the icv what should happen? Not sure if mine is working 100% after reading this thread, seems to idle a little rough, but this thread says it can cause a hesitation/missfire at all rpm. Which I'm struggling with as well as backfiring...
It's so strange it hesitates at around 2-3k rpm but no fault sensor codes, changed plugs, coilpack, oil, air filter, oil filter. Accelerates like normal above 3k rpm and on full throttle, just half throttle at 2-3k rpm struggles like f**k.

What's tge best way to check to see if the back box has broken down, is it simply take it off and tip it up to see if any of the silencer s**t falls out?

Has anyone ever had a damaged cat causing an acceleration issue? I've had a hesitation on acceleration which then results in a large pop/bang from the exhaust, and then my 172 will accelerate as normal once I put my foot flat on the floor.

only certain firmware rs tuner can do pops and bangs, buy brand new if you want it.

Yeah rs tuner reads fault codes in trying to find a second hand one st moment to check fault codes on mine.

I'm having same problem except mines happening at 2.5k-3k rpm after that everything is normal, I'm just in the process of changing the coil pack and ht leads.
Have you checked the injectors? Car running pull out a ht lead at a time see if engine not changes if it does that injector is...
I've had it with a silencer for a year, without for a year, then with a silencer and a decat, then with no silencer and a decat, really wish I'd got something else to be honest I'm not a fond lover of exhaust that make a deep burble..... Prefer them raspy so I suppose its personal taste
