172 rims are going for about £200ish maybe slightly more for 5 & the condition, if you plan to keep the car then flog them to get the rims you really want. 15's are very cheap also
its an age old debate eh, personally i think 17's handle like sh*te on the rs, most ppl dont listen tho, after several hundred £ on 17's & 6 months l8r they put the 16's back on then realise. if you like turinis & supaleggs have a look at td prorace 1.2?
harsh but cut your losses, send it back or flog it on ebay & get a custom set up, ppl who pay £3-400 on any product shouldnt have to fiddle with it to get it to work properly. i went through months of exhaust rage, had to cable tie bits of rubber to stop the rattles & it never sat straight.
worst mod: 17's what a waste of time & £, most annoying mod: k-tec catback, never got it to sit straight, quickshift was good for a time but the car feels so much better without it, pf97 pads..awsome. love all the engine work but the best mod has been the kw (v2) coilovers. same as Gary for the...
im sure most would want a honda at some point, great engines with loads of tuning goodies. i bought my rs because it was fun, cheap to run & suits my lifestyle, unfortunately tuning it is not so easy, but ive gone french so im gona live with it. like Evoo says it better kick ass for that outlay..
you can goto ET 48.5 (standard mk2 offset) with 16", im running ET45. as above tho 16" for handling. pro-race 1 only comes in 15" i think, but the pro-race 1.2 is very similar and about 6kg. also the maxogen IK if you are flush ;-)
so what of driveability? i know Yassers is a handfull on the road but he has shortened ratios as well, is it the diff that does this or a combo of both? maybe K-TEC will be offering a drive in the demo car?
so how long does it take to fit & at what cost? dont know much about these, sounds good for the track but what effect does it have on everyday driveability? arent there 2 types of diff mentioned before on here, Ben rated one & not the other? bring on the techys!
all very well changing car if you can afford it, ppl tune theirs because it is either easier to save a couple of grand or deal with the repayments on a smaller loan, then you have the running/insurance costs on 'faster' cars like evos etc. i could start again by chopping mine in & taking a loan...
chips away would prob charge between £60-120ish for that pending on maybe needing to do the whole door, used them twice now hence my guesswork!, work is excellent.
ya Mark i agree the omex has better mapping, the gdi cars on here all have smt6 or omex (yourself, Gary, Ross etc) to get the best results, can you get 205 on a standard ecu?
Seacombe whats your 'torque figure', are you running just the stock ecu? your pushing the injectors at a proper 200hp, and you would run very lean i think. im sure the tech's will explain it better.
info seems a bit sketchy in the early posts eh, if you want a racing engine its going to cost, depends on your description of one. best advice above^ contact Andy & Ben...
you could go hispec again, brembros will cost you £800-1500 fitted pending on where you go as the kits available all use different pads/discs etc. a lot on here use the Yozzasport kit choice of ds2500 or pf 97 pads for best results. will these calipers be orange Fred? ;-)
sounds like them, the one behind disappeared b4 the clockhouse, the one in front gave the nod after a bit of a burn turned off at the clockhouse college side.
