I find that I have to keep the car on the boil (drive at about 4500rpm) for a while then the car seems to get all smooth and then it really flies.
If I dont do that and then give stick (even if the engine is properly warmed up and revving to 7000rpm) it doesnt seem to perform as well
Danie...going by those figures, you and i should be capable of very similar times then since Im running 205/45 16 and I assume youre running 205/40 17...a whole 0.2 inches.
Although wheel weight would also influence that too
Well I didnt find out much from searching on cams but according to BenR, to get any decent gains you have to rework the entire head, and basically create a racing engine, and that as we know is expensive for minor gains.
Having just started doing track days myself...done a whole 1, I was also worried about my car on the track, but I went down, had a look, went out with mate in his car to learn the track, and then grabbed a helmet and went out myself.
If youve got a pretty powerful car then chances are youll...

Ha ha ha, yeah smooth is a laugh...Where are the techy geniuses...would my idea work? I mean take the "non functioning" Renault VVT and give it purpose
As some of you know (or maybe not) the Clio engine has the most basic form of Valve Timing.
Basically the engine runs one cam profile for smooth idling and at 1,500rpm the profile switches to the other profile.
Ive been thinking, would it not be possible to change the low rpm cam profile to...
Its been done here in SA.
Only info I have is that it was done on a yellow mk1 172 using a hybrid T3/4
The owner also had a 50 shot of NOS and was running sub 12 second 1/4mile
I know on the mk1 there is only one sensor before the cat so removing it doesnt affect the ECU at all.
On some of the mk2 there are 2 sensors, and Ive heard things like nothing happens. Hopefully someone whos done a decat on a mk2 will reply with an answer
Possibly 1 or 2bhp more since there isnt the restriction of the cat anymore.
Danie, you up for a Dyno day at Zwartkops on Saturday the 8th Nov? Its being organised by the VW club. Im gonna get a run in, then decat and hopefully get another run on the same dyno to compare
Yeah, Wesbank sounds like a plan.
Strange about Paypal as I managed to use it fine to join the club.
Nosh...we have some great whites mostly in the cold cape waters, but most other places are great white free...but not shark free...I should know Ive gone diving with them. Aus also has its...
The AP22 was R1700 which is a lot cheaper than it costs here.
I joined the club through paypal. They quote in pounds or dollars and when it comes off the credit card they do the forex conversion automatically.
I did the tyre warming thing at Tarlton...so I guess it works...well maybe

Im in Weltevreden Park.
16.4 from 16.9 is a good improvement.
Hopefully then I can go from 16.6 to 16.1 at least.
I just think more practice is needed. Ill let you know once the AP22 arrives, and we can go do some timed runs
R721 to be precise...Think im still using fridays forex rate.

Move to Johannesburg in South Africa.
No rain or ice in winter (just some icy winds from the Cape) and frost on the grass. Low temps are 2 degrees and Highs are 20 degrees
In summer we get 30 minutes of rain in the afternoon. Temps range between 15 degrees on a cold morning to 35 degrees in...
If you like windsurfing I can suggest no better place than here. Weve got quite a few sites from Richards Bay in Kwa-Zulu Natal to Sahldana Bay in the Western Cape.
when it comes to banana leaves its easy, the riper the leaf, the more its worth (cos you have to wait to get them ripe)
