sounds like something has come loose and is creating a short circuit somewhere. look round the engine bay see if anything is hanging about which shouldnt be
despite their bad rep the ol renaults seem to last a while! i never saw many old fords go past the 100k mark they didnt even have the 7th digit on the milometer. highest ive seen is a saab on 400k +
there isnt a 1.6 mk 1 clio unless u do the megane engine conversion, the 1.4 would probably only be a bit quicker then the 1.2 and thus probably get bored of the power fairly quickly, rsi is a good option fairly cheap to buy, probably cheaper than the valver to maintain but still a large engine...
thing with valvers is that if they are looked after they are pretty reliable, but if they aint, and if something goes wrong it can become costly. they are quick motors and handle very well. insurance isnt impossible at 18 but dont expect it to be cheap!
what i did with mine was to put some long cable ties round the offending wires/connectors, then hold them out the way whilst pushing the head unit at the same time, just about got it in! then just trimmed the cable ties down
thats what im going to do, well ive upgraded the main earth lead to the chassis, plus changed the rubbish standard renault batt connectors, gonna do the rest of the big three then get a nice juicy battery, just got a £27 jobbie in there at the mo. ive just got 2 amps one monoblock (1000w rms)...
looks like he had a bit of cutting though to get it in! i tried a translator to see wat they are all saying but it wernt comin out very well. anyone speak french?
i was in blackpool today and it was actually sunny!
have a look in the for sale section always valvers for sale in there, usually club members take a bit more care/ spend a bit more dosh keeping them tidy, so should easily get a nice un!
