hi, just checked my power steering reservoir it's way up past the maximum. does the level raise in use than drop when it's left to stand for a while?

there's some cobble stones where i live and i've noticed that when i drive over them my car bangs about and you feel everything, but when i reverse over them it's as smooth as silk. is this likely caused by wishbones and/or top mounts?
