Thanks for that, I will keep it running as is, car is currently doing 77.3mpg average with a coked up inlet manifold but clean EGR pipe so it doesn't seem to matter too much, I would guess it would be rather bad in the inlet runners in the head though but I don't really want to loosen any of it...
Thanks for that photo, it looks great, ride height looks fab on that, although my previous car was running lower lol.
I have driven the car for 125 miles or so, its just moved off 'full' its indicating 77mpg - that's about 1/3 town driving the rest being my motorway commute, my previous car was...
I have made a decision on what I want to do with the exterior of the car, I plan to colour code the black plastic but will be keeping the OEM non sport grill - the car isn't a sport, might have gone down the sport route if it was the DCi 100.
Will perhaps mock up how the car would look with a...
I have found that even some of the cheaper HID units are actually fine, I can't use them on my car as the headlight units aren't HID compliant but they might be ok for your country's laws etc.
Make sure that you get the white HIDs rather than the bluer tinted lights though.
I have also found...
I will have a look at fitting that OEM intercooler - might be a good upgrade at some point although I need to be careful as fitting an intercooler too large will create lag (eg the tiny turbo needs to fill and pressurise a larger volume before positive manifold pressure).
Anyway, that will be a...
Hi all,
My DCi has a possible knock on the front end, might just be something in the engine bay knocking on something however I am guessing it might be something else that usually goes due to the engine being fairly heavy. Its not the front ball joints as they are brand new, I am guessing...
Hi all,
As my Clio is a Renualt it has the usual rattle from the sunroof, I just wanted to write a post stating that I have cured the problem (although i'm not sure for how long) - I have simply added some universal grease to the runners and around the whole seal. It seems that the creaking I...
Thanks for that I will check it out, I also have a Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI (90) which doesn't have an intercooler at the moment, and am trying to work out the best routing etc, hence I was happy to find that the 80 had an intercooler!
I will also have a look into the EGR removal and sorting out...
Hi all,
Just wonder if there any good photos out there which show the pipework routing for the dci - there is usually a pipe that runs over the top of the engine to the intercooler on other French diesel engines (like the 2.0 HDis) but there isn't anything on this engine. Does all of the...
Ah ok, not really sure if I need to fit something like that, I know that the Fiesta TDCi intercoolers are pretty good as an OEM intercooler, although slightly smaller engine size, I also have a Mitsubishi intercooler off a 3 litre v6 diesel (Think it was from a Pajero) - it was used as a top...
Here are some photos of it :D
Engine bay before:
After checking the EGR etc and cleaning it up a bit
Here is an OEM 1.9 Senic front mounted intercooler - might see if its larger than the OEM Clios one, have been told that apparently they are the same size? Anyway, if anyone is...
I have now got the car, the garage sorted out the intermittant light, I have just taken the EGR out and the inlet pipe and both are clean and functional - I think the garage might have replaced/cleaned these then reset the light as there is nothing on the dash anymore.
I have also plugged in my...
A front upper strut brace works due to the McPherson strut arrangement - the brace ties the top of the suspension together, then for a FWD car, upgrading the REAR ARB will improve the handling.Saying that it won't really make much difference if all of the rubber bushes are shot and the tie rod...
Hmm I will have a think, won't be for a while though as I haven't even got the car! I guess the extra weight of the DCI engine would be a factor and the fact that the ARBs are apparently fairly massive.
I will be running on the OEM 15" wheels as well, I like them a lot as they are specific to...
I am just going for springs, coilovers are good if you need lots of adjustments etc, I am just looking for a slightly sportier and lower ride but nothing harsh.
Thanks for that, I'm not panicing yet as it might be something really simple like the EGR being clogged - just thinking preventative things as well, I am picking the car up tomorrow. I will be changing the fuel filter over the weekend and will be cutting it open to check if there is anything...
Hi all,
I will be looking into mildly lowering my Clio at some point (I haven't even got the car yet!), it will be my daily drive with about 90% of the time spent on the motorway although some town driving as well.
I will be lowering the car 40mm so nothing mental, might look at swapping out...
Hi all,
I am picking up my Dci 80 tomorrow, I will be plugging in my OBD2 reader, I think it should bring back the actual description to the code but I just thought I would ask if there is a site/section which lists all of the fault codes (so I can take that along as well).
Pretty sure its the...
I went with the 80 as I know the injectors are the same as the 100 so there is a larger headroom for fueling tweaks, makes sense as it runs more boost than the 65, am I correct that the 80 turbo is a standard wastegate turbo or is it a VNT?
I am going to plug in my ODB2 reader and see what codes come up, the car is on 117k, might just be low on fuel or something simple, budgeting additional £500 for any service parts etc.
Hmm thanks for that, seems to be a mixxed bag, I guess it depends on how good the fuel is that is going through the system, is there anything that would specifically point to one failing? I am guessing it would sound noisy? Is there anywhere I can check for shards etc in the system? I will be...
Hi all,
I am picking up my dci 80 on Saturday, will be giving everything a service and a clean up engine wise, I know that the high pressure pumps can fail and throw shards around the fuel system. Is this unit cam belt driven or is it on an aux belt? I only ask as I might want to change it out...
Thanks for that, the Picasso is currently running without a rear backbox, its being silenced by the turbo and cat so its actually still quiet, might look at doing something with the exhaust to free up turbo spool etc which would give me back increased throttle response. Might also look at a...
Thanks for those threads, I will have a read, I know that simple tweaks really do help with diesels, will just give everything a good service and clean out and see what that does first.
