Slight thread revival on this one, my DCi 80 is now on around 135k miles, it has developed a slight fault with an injector (I believe but still diagnosing as it drives perfectly just a slightly lumpy idle sometimes), anyway, coming back to my initial question and with a slight change in...
Hi all,
I know there are lots of threads about lowering, I have read through a few threads and know I can't fit the 1.2 petrol springs owing to the heavier weight up front with the engine - which is on par with the 1.6 and 172 it seems.
I use my car as a daily drive and have had cars...
Thanks guys, was just wondering, mines just a privilege edition so not exactly sporty! I only ask as I have seen quite a few clios which don't have the rake - really don't like the way it looks though, it just looks like collapsed front suspension lol.
Hi all,
Just wondering if this is a common issue/trait on Clios, I have a mk 2 with stock suspension, the front seems much lower than the rear eg the whole car seems to be slanted forward a bit.
Its a DCi so I guess has more weight up front plus it does have the OEM front splitter so I guess it...
'03 plate DCI (80), 90% motorway driving to work, averages around 74mpg, has been at 83mpg over the summer but has dropped due to colder starts etc + change of fuel mix, car is on 125k miles.
On my electric sunroof which was also creaking slightly I ran some universal grease around the rubber seal so that it was more supple, this also helped - might be worth trying this as well if you haven't already.
I have done today to check the brakes etc, the suspension shock dropped down so that it was resting on the top mushroom, when the car is back on the ground the top mushroom isn't in contact with the bodywork meaning that the strut is held in simply by the weight of the car - thought there might...
Thanks for your input, although I am still slightly confused how its all held together, are you saying that there is a plate (guessing welded) underneath the strut tower? Eg it would go:
Strut > Rubber bushing > Plate attached to underside of strut tower > top rubber mushroom in free air
The...
Hi all,
I have just fitted some of those front strut spacers to see what difference it might make to the front end knock - I think its probably something else but just wanted to remove the front struts from the issue.
Anyway, I was wondering about this when trying to find a front strut brace...
Will do, thanks for the suggestion, I have some of those front strut washers to fit soon so I will jack the car up and give everything an additional check over when I have all the tools out. Are they know to snap front springs?
Hi all,
My DCi seems fairly low at the front vs the rear, I know that the engine is quite heavy which would make sense for the front to be lower than the rear, however the car looks like it has been lowered at the front. The car has stock suspension all the way round, is this simply a case of...
Thanks for that, I haddn't thought about other models with the same suspension setups, would my Clio definitely have the 58mm bolt spacing? I see that there are some different spacing depending on the model etc.
Just saw these as a really basic setup with shocks and springs - guessing top...
Hi all,
Owing to my DCi being on around 120k miles I am looking to swap out the suspension at some point soon as although its pretty good I can feel that the car is a bit 'tired' owing to the age of the suspension.
I thought that it might be a good idea to upgrade parts this time round so that...
Mine is the 80bhp model - specifically bought as I wanted the better fuel economy it offers over the 65 and 100, plus having the better injectors and an OEM intercooler - well making it easier to change to a larger intercooler as all of the pipework is there.
Throttle response has been improved...
Indeed, I guess its a bit like that AX video, its a slow car normally but the main upgrade is the driver, I do know that suspension setup is usually more important than all out power anyway, as Lotus says, "simplify and add lightness".
Thanks guys, just thought I would ask considering the fact that Le Mans is usually won by a diesel car and Top Gear did well with their diesel BMW lol
I think I might just look at upgrading a few suspension bits on mine as the car has done almost 120k miles, just wondering if its worth going...
Hi all,
Just wondering if there are any track focused DCis on here at all, here is a 1.4 litre diesel AX running a 9:55 on the ring:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBFjHjm0O5M
My DCi is my daily drive but I am tempted to do a few suspension bits here and there and might do a track day, the...
Small update on this, car is running well, currently looking into colour coding the door strips, I have also unbolted the intake snokel from the air box, there has been an improvement in throttle response and it feels smoother to drive (now the engine is getting all the air it needs), it also...
I would be concerned if there were shards in the oil filter!
Anyone who has a DCi should swap over their fuel filter, the car feels smoother and also has a bit more torque at the lower end - I guess that the fuel filter can actually supply the fuel the pump is wanting easier.
I just wanted to see what sort of fuel economy it had when I got it, plus the throttle response over the daily commute, I can report that with the change in fuel filter and air filter, plus the 2 stroke, its much smoother and there is a bit more punch, I never run cars completely empty...
Initial conclusion with the mini service and 2 stroke is that its much smoother and there is more mid range punch at around 2k rpm, much smoother power delivery vs last week.
I still need to change the oil but have the filter, will be ordering a reconditioned high pressure pump as well as a new...
Thanks for that, I will have a think about it, I have just worked on the car a bit more, here is what I have done:
Change air filter
Changed oil filter - no metal shards in the old filter meaning the HP pump is ok at the moment
Added injector cleaner
Added 2 stroke
The old filters were 'ok'...
Hi all,
I am going to get a timing belt/tensioner/water pump change owing to my DCi being on 118k miles, should I also get a replacement high pressure pump as well? I am looking at getting a reconditioned pump for around £225. Should I get this swapped out this time round or should the current...
Update: Car is currently doing 80mpg with mixed driving - mainly motorway but also some town driving during the evening and last weekend.
I have found that the car sometimes jolts a bit when you let off the throttle every now and then, I have checked to see if its the dogbone but the engine is...
Hi everyone,
I have had my mk2 for about 5 days so far, its averaging 79mpg at the moment which isn't bad, anyway I have 2 'how do I?' questions with regards to the controls of the car that I can't seem to figure out:
Question 1:
How do I flash high beams when I have my lights on (or they are...
Hi all,
I am going to order some paint to do some colour coding, the door sticker states that my car's colour is TED48 Nautilus blue, apparently Renualt Nautilus blue is D48. Just checking to see if its the same colour and the TE doesn't actually mean anything - I can't seem to find anywhere...
