Hi mate. Youre clearly a man of exceptional taste.
Ive got the same as you but have eibachs on mine - the pro kit which lowers only 5-10mm. These pics are a bit muddy, but you can see that they are lower than standard. Nathan had -40mm springs on his and it looked amazing.
The pics are...
Yep 205/40s blunt your acceleration - you may try to deny it, but when you put your 16s back on you fly! Ive stuck with the 17s because they make me smile whenever I look at the car sat still - it just looks so damned right.
Thanks again. Pics are a very clear indication that it can be sorted, and thanks for the encouragement to get Demon Tweeks to lift it up a bit. Id post some pics but I dont seem to be able to upload anything these days!

Ive just had a magnex cat-back twin 3.5" exhaust fitted to my Cup at Demon Tweeks. It seems to slope downwards underneath the car and so exits about 1" under the rear bumper - does anyone know how to improve the fitting so it will be horizontal and therefore need a cut out in the rear bumper...
Ive got white turinis too, but mine are 17" ones - they look nicer imo, but they blunt acceleration a bit. NathanH also has 17" white ones, but cupcakes is the one to track down pics of if you want your 16s recoating.
Ive just spent 6 months losing 16kg in weight (16st2 down to a slightly-less-of-a-fat-b*stard 13st7), and I can honestly say that it hasnt made any difference whatsoever to how fast my Cup accelerates. However, on the upside, my trousers keep falling down now
Yep, 5700 or so is where the vtec changes happen, and as you say below that you might as well be in any old weedy thing, but beyond that its awesome. And the gearing means that if you change at the red line (8000rpm) you go straight to 5700/5800 rpm in the next gear and wahhay away you go all...
Had a 4 door EG VTi for 18 months before my Golf VR6, and whilst the golf was way more comfortable the civic was way quicker, handled better and "felt" far more of a performance car - I spent many months regretting selling it.....but then I got the Cup and have been all smiles for nearly two...
If they sell for £1300 less than normal 182s, and that price drop is reflected at supermarkets, then a 182cup for £10.5-£11k would seem like a good buy to me. But at dealer prices, I cant see anyone losing out on leather, 6cd, xenons and climate control for such a small cash saving - the...
Superchipped mine - noticeable increase in torque, so it really pulls very well especially around 4-4500 rpm. No change of redline, but find myself driving with the torque rather than power, if you know what I mean, ie I rarely go beyond 6000rpm. Rsport one seems most favoured though, and the...
Yes
Worse in the dry, better in the wet. But this might be only because my previous tyres were practically slicks.
Dunno
I paid £104 per tyre fitted (got 2) 205 17 40s.
Totally agree with you - the more effort you put in, the more rewarding the car is. Hanging on, and needing to hang on, is half the fun. Ace, ace, ace, ace, ace....
Good review by the way.
Ive answered my own question ( i think ) - found this website which gives a list of all cars and their fitments....

....and it looks like Meganes are the same as Clios. :D
Youll save about £3k by going for a 172 thats 6 months older than the equivalent 182. As said above, handling can be sorted for £150 with a set of eibach springs, and the performance differences are small(ish), and can probably be made up with an R-sport ecu (about £250 fitted) and a decent...
Im thinking of buying a £3k megane coupe, and I still have my 16" turinis (sale fell through yet again ffs): - question is will they fit the megane if I get it? Its a 1996 1.6 coupe - I know theyre 4 stud, but not sure of the PCD (ie4x100 or whatever) or the offset (ie ET38 etc). Any help...
Yeah, I agree. Its like theyrer softer over the first 2 or 3cm of compression, before they stop compressing and "dig in". Its off putting at first, but believe me, once dug in the handling is ace.
For the purposes of comparison I test drove a cupd 182 2 weeks ago and razzed it around my...
