Yeah, just dont floor it...ever. I managed a 350mile round trip doing less than 90 the whole way in my 1.4, and youve got longer gears on the 172, so IT wont be pulling as many revs. It was showing 35-38
Yeah, aslong as the engine aint cold, because that would mean that thick lumps of cold oil is trying to go round the engine to lubricate it- and thick oil cant, so you just get metal upon metal!
The more modern your car, the quicker it should warm up. Id say 10-15min is more than enought to...
Its not that the sunroof rattles, but it kind of squeaks, which really pisses me off! Apart from that, its very very well made inside for a cheap french car. Oh, one other thing, the computer reading for the "Miles till you need to fill up" window. How rong is that? I was on 195miles today...
126mph in my 1.4 on the M4 trying to catch up with the convoy. Only done that once and cant get above 122mph, but cant say Ive tried for a while! Petrol prices :@!!!
Also, other speeds which Ive managed personally:
-112 in a 1.0 52reg Corsa curtesy car on the M6
-115 in 3rd gear in my mums...
Ive driven a 1.2 16v and my 1.4 16v and i can say that the difference is quite large. my car pulls alot harder, the steering is heavier, and the 1st to 2nd gear change is more minging (on the 1.4!)
The differences between the 1.4 and 1.6s Isnt as large IMO, after racing with one today at 120ish
I remember looking down at the computer clock saying 8miles and I thought, hang on a second, THIS CAR IS SUPPOSED TO BE BRAND NEW!!!

Well I do take it very hardcore every once in a while!
And for the odd occation that i do, i like to have full control! Going out to get a front one now, just for the sheer looks of the thing in the engine bay!

Well I havent bought either yet! Was thinking of popping out today to have a look for one. And yes, i was just thinking of getting a front one ...
Is that a bad idea? Its just a rear one is a bit impractical when I have to carry skis around!
...from the feel/handling of the front end once Ive fit my front strutbrace? Now, obviously it will be stiffer, but by how much, and how will it feel over bumpy roads?
(By the way, its a 2004 1.4, lowered by 35mm on Spax springs)

I know what it is, I can picture it now, but cant explain it in words! As long as you clip it back in (theres a catch on mine that goes over the top of it) youll be fine!
The slight whistling noise maybe because of the airfilter. I think that wire has something to do with the airflow meter...
I feel sorry for people whove been caught doing 100 and get banned, because I, and Im sure many other people on here, have done well in excess of 100mph on a lonely motorway (and sometimes not so lonely single track road )! Weve all done stupid things too, but it only hits home when...
r u joking? ther r quite a few round
ive seen about 6 different v6s in my life and thats quite alot.
dont think the lorry load of black and silver (10 of each) 172s counts towards the no. of 172/182/cups ive seen, but its still alot!
I havent decalared my mods but Im insured under my Dads name, and he is the main driver and he thinks that they will question that if they find out that the car is lowered and has an induction kit etc.
Infact that reminds me that I need to get my own insurance for my gap year.
Can I do a...
I think top gear summed it up brilliantly.
Here comes a drug dealer, high, in a stollen car, and completely incapable of breaking the speed limit. Camera doenst flash, hes not a criminal.
And here comes Osama Bin Laden, the worlds most wanted terroist, but he realises that he wont be...
In my humble opinion I would either sell the valver, garage it for 2 years or put a limiter on it.
Having said all that, my friend recieved 3points for doing 41 in a 30 (and they had set the camera at 40!) and hes still only been driving about 20months and has driven like a maniac the whole...
