Well, been for a long drive out in the peaks with temps of about 31c. Usually in this sort of weather the car feels sluggish. Today, with my DIY IK, it was absolutely superb. The 3 air feed pipes under the car seem to be able to keep the kit cool. When I stop driving, the aluminum heat shield is...
I sent them a CD-R with all my pics of it along with all the service history and receipts for work that Id had done on it. Such a shame that the car has gone, but getting a good settlement makes me feel a bit better about it.
Paddy - not sure about what Im going to get next. Will probably...
Paddy WINS! £4925 is their first offer which I can dispute, but wont as it sounds fair.
Goes to show that no matter what some people might say, a Williams in good nick is still going to be worth a fair amount.
And yes, i am pleased as I paid just under £6k for it from a trader 8 months ago...
Just received my settlement of the claim for my stolen Williams 3 from Tescos. Must say that I am impressed that its only taken 3 weeks to settle the claim.
Now...any guesses as to how much Tesco valued the following:
Williams 3, 84000 miles, Standard car, no mods/ice. Registered Jan. 96...
Just out of interest, how are you going to get the cats back in for MOT time? Im having the 172 de-catted in about 3 weeks and they are going to have to spend ages messing around making me a bolt in and out decat as there are twins cats there at the moment, and the mounting lug for it is right...
IMHO, no way. Reason? Look tacky and are usually on cars that clearly dont have all these companies components under the bonnet or anywhere else on the car. If the car actually has these parts and you feel the need to show off about it, then fair enough, but it usually just looks a bit...
As its sucking air you dont need direct airflow into it as my IK requires. You could remove the old airbox workings and put the pipe down to the underside of the car were there will be loads of cool air to suck up. See my "DIY" airbox to see where I have pipes going.
Your Viper might look...
Oops, I put too manys dots in the address.
Definitely some food for thought there. Would be good to seal off the rest of the compartment. The cars been running quite nicely today despite the 31c temperature. It usually feels a touch sluggish in hot weather. Id like to try taking temperatures...
FlyingScotsman - yes please. Can you send pics to mailto:rhys172@blueyonder.co..uk">rhys172@blueyonder.co..uk please? Where did you get that hose from? How much and what guage?
Exactly Roamer, not sealed so unless I hit very deep water at 70mph i should be okay. It seems to get cool air in very well. The airfilter is quite cool after thrashing the car, although the aluminium gets quite warm. Done more AP22 runs tonight and the results are really favourable. Im not...
Roamer, were you running stripped out? Is the Williams standard?
Rhys
Ps: Well done Kathy, but it just proves that silver ones are faster.....muahaha ;)
Latest additions to my DIY induction kit. Extra 60mm duct from under the car to the airfilter compartment and an aluminium shield to keep the cold and warm air apart.
0-60 is now over 0.1 seconds quicker than with the standard airbox. Will be testing out the 0-100mph later on tonight with the...
Fair enough, Id would thoroughly suggest getting some 60mm tubing to get air flow from underneath the car. It seems to be working really well for me.
Rhys
lol, in this thread its a Cavalier GSi engine!

Tonykart - Im after some silicone hosing, rather then trying to insulate the current hose. Ive just today added an aluminium heat shield over the filter. The whole set up has definitely improved the performance of the car (tested before during and after with AP22).
And yes, lets have a look at...
Itll lose you power! The gains you are experiencing are probably related to the cool noise. I did I similar thing with both my MK2 172 and Williams and using an AP22 to time, I discovered that Id lost a few tenths or more to 60 on both cars. Subjectively, I thought I had improved the...
Feck knows, but it was damned good.
Edit - thinking about it, look how much lower the Williams came from the factory than the 172. The tyres fill the wheelarches. Both 172s that Ive had have looked like they were on stilts. They handle so much better lower, and Renault should have...
I know straight line only counts for so much, but the 172 as std is quicker than the Williams as std. To back this up, same roads, similar air temps and road conditions (dry, cool), same AP22 calibrated in same manner, both my cars:
Good run in Williams 3:
Start Speed 0.0mph
mph s g ft...
