ive just bought an alpine 7894 I only posted the link as there may be people who want to amp the current headunit for now, as I did ( my amp as speaker inputs) untill i could afford a new headunit. You are right though with just a new HU it did sound alot better, but best upgrade is definatly to...
As you probably know the standard 172 head unit has no pre outs so you cant connect an amplifier unless it has HI-level inputs(speakers inputs). just thought this speaker-pre out converter on ebay may be of interest to some of you.with amps with no hi level input...
1st pic shows the alpine adaptor mounted next to the airbag, 2nd pic shows how it connects to the wire that was pluged into the back of the clock, as said above other wires conncet to remote turn on and into the back of the head unit.
no screws left over, luckily i had a mate to help out who was more than happy to take my car apart, but its is quite worrying taking the dash off and ripping the car to bits. Trying to get my amp repaired then i can put my sub in the car, then i want some new 6.5" components which im sure can be...
space at the motorshow is VERY expensive a stand selling cheap tyres wouldnt make any money as they take up loads of space so you wouldnt be able to stock many.
kwik fit and charlie browns both refused to fit the toyo proxy tyres i bought at trax, they said we can only fit tyres we supply, they said we cany garuentee them. in the end i offered cash to the guy at charlie browns to fit them no receipt. so the money went in his back pocket but it didnt...

I take it that is a US model, problems are the radio
- there tuner goes up in differnt steps
- they dont have RDS
- they use a different system to DAB so you cant add a DAB tuner to US model
yeh works fine with the steering wheel remote you just need the alpine - renault adaptor( KCE) cant remember the exact model. If you dont buy this the stereo will not work as the instruments go mad. just to add the display only does time and temperature after that
the pictures size was reduced using the reduce function on outlook, the original pic would be 2832 x 2128. The new head unit is amazing, ive not changed he standard speakers yet( no spare cash) but even so the improvement is massive it sounds s omuch better, more detail and so clear even at high...
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mathewroberts/g%20061.jpgFitted my new Alpine 7894 head unit today was a real pain, 1st Couldnt get the dash off as I needed to fit the Alpine to renault steering wheel remote adaptor so I fit the stereo 1st and though ILl come back to that BUT with only the stereo...
sorry to hear that sounds pretty bad, I always try to drive more carefully when its wet and I worry sometimes that my 172 has much better brakes than the crap car just off your bumper on the m/w. Just to add I wont be able to make it today as im fitting my new Alpine HU.

funny that i was on the way to the norther clio rolling road when the origianl cat fell off meaning i never got to run at the same time as everyone else, re performance cant really tell any difference and its difficult to say as the car has got faster as the miles have gone on. 1 thing to note...
