i dont think its the clutch that wears causing it to become tights, its the lube in the clutch cable. If you have a new clutch cable fitted you will notice it becomes soft / easy to use. Over time the lube wears out and it gets tight. This is when the cable can sometimes snap.
Ive been through...
You could go for a 2ltr convertion? - sorry, had to say it.
If your sticking with your current setup then you only have 2 options i think? TBs / headwork. From what i gather headwork gives you a nice performance gain all over so maybe a few cams are in order? followed by gas flowed & ported...
would like to know where u got 6k from @ 17. i was as skint as a flint at that age. Ive paid for all my cars and insurance myself - with the help of a bank lone which i finish in December.
Thank you Alex. Speak to weight and adams about the convertion tho as they already have theres (there not giving much away! lol) I think its for greedy people really as i am more then happy with my 1.8.
Trying to get a list together of all the parts that ill be replacing on my soon to be Williams engine. all "internals" are staying as they are, Only bolt on parts i can think to replace are :-
1. clutch
2. water pump
3. Oil Pump

I agree with you Ben - i travel 50miles a day with my once clocked 42k valver, which has now racked up 72k miles! And i can that every mile has kept me smiling on my travels! I love driving my valver to work, and never get bored going to and from work!

Patty,
i dont know if this is any help to you? but ive attached some pics of the false floor im currently making at the mo. Its a lightweight floor and weighs next to nothing (ive jigged holes all the way through to save weight) im going to carpeting it today and finishing the lid. Ill post...
bloody hell alex!! thats crazy!
after reading these stories im thinking about getting one of those keypad imoblisers - the type you have to key in a pin for. Or maybe a cut off switch that cuts the ignition at a flick of a switch! Sounds like the kids doing these crimes dont have the brains of...
sorry to hear that Tom - thank f**k you got out ok (car aswell) What sort of things were they saying to you when they was chatting? and where abouts were you at the time?
mixed views on the T-1s from what i can gather over the last year or 2. i have a set of 4 on my valver i can say they are the best tyres i have ever had! cant fault um at all.
Just for a change im going for F1s this year - then ill be able to give a better apinion of the T1s.
the wider track has nothing to do with the car - its the williams alloys that give it a slightly wider track. The suspension is the same as the clio 16v, other then the front suspension on the willy uses the same as the renault 19 16v. You wouldnt notice a performance advantage between the 2 i...
Why do you say the williams handles better?
Alloys are a matter of preferance i think - some peeps like phase 1s better (like me) then some peeps like phase 2 wheels. (the nissan micra style ones ;))

1300 fitted!!
A lot of people may say thats OTT - however i was getting sick of looking for one! There so hard to find, and most people that do have um want top dollar for them. This was just right, with fitting just right - tho i did think hard before making my mind up.
You hear people say...
has there been any work done to the head? or is it just a std low mile head? if its just std id say dont worry about it and keep what you got, not worth the messing about.

Hi guys,
Well today i just bought myself a williams engine - the need for 2ltr power has become to much, so i got me a nice willy 3 lump with 70k miles. Anyway ive been speaking to Nick Hill @ Hillpower about fitting etc.. im thinking of just fitting engine "as is" (ie not having the engine...
