Turbo 172 update with more piccies.

Im sure all the hard work will pay off. Its good to see you are doing this project the way it should be done - by spending money and buying the right parts for the job, instead just working around a problem with work-around parts. I reckon youll be wanting an anti-lag system next "To...

22 PSI - wow! Have you dropped the static compression ratio? If so please tell me you havent done the Nova-Boy mod of fitting 3 head gaskets 11:1 would quickly become more like 20:1 with your turbo. Where are you gonna mount the intercooler? Youre not gonna have to cut up your lovely...

    Clio CUP - Delivery delays

Mine was due to meet me on the 17th, but has now been put back until the 20th of this month. I have a strong feeling there will be at least one other delay though

    Ice on Intercooler

This will not really help you as an air to air intercooler will warm up after about 30 seconds of boost anyway. Many people think that an air to air intercooler works by ambient air passing through and cooling the compressed air. This is almost correct, but the ambient air is actually cooling...

    Optimax

Sorry capt. you are quite right. The inlet valve deposits are not carbon at all, they are tar-like (layer upon layer of unburnt fuel I suppose), but the result is that Optimax did in-fact clean it. If anyone is interested, a very good test was conducted in EVO issue 044. I normally take...

    Optimax

It would be worth it once in a while as it has been PROVEN to clean up carbon deposits on the back of inlet valves etc (see EVO mag). Higher RON is not a bad thing either as there is less chance of knocking. The flame is said to travel faster through the mixture, another benifit. I use...

    Flames

Natural flames (i.e. no flamer kit) are caused when the driver lifts off the throttle at high revs. This is because the air meter accounts for a load of air, but the butterfly is snapped shut, meaning only some of the air actually enters the cylinders, but this air contains an amount of fuel...

How to run in an engine

Well Ill run my engine in properly and well see who has the least engine problems. Race teams have a lot more money (and sponsors) than I do!
