Gaz: Thanks for your help - will let you know how it goes on Sunday as thats the first chance Ill get to have another go at it.
Mike: Ive heard that theres another couple of hundred kilos under the bonnet - might get rid of that too. ;)
Hi Gaz,
Yea I removed the top half of the steering wheel cover which then had two screws underneath it.
What about the A-pillas, how do they unclip? Do they have to come right off because I dont want to upset the alarm sensors?
Cheers
Laurence

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have a diagram of how to remove the dash in a 172 Cup (not that I think it would be any different from a normal 172).
Looked at the previous posts and worked out i need to remove:

If its a factory head unit it probably WILL NOT have a specific remote wire (which is blue as stated). This does not mean you cannot fit an amp though.
A remote output is simply a convinient connection on aftermarket headunits that only gives power when the ignition has turned 1 click or more...
Every picture of the car I have seen has a black front splitter, but mine doesnt. Anyone else got one?
Its a UK car if that makes any difference.
Cheers - Laurence.

I have worked in an enviroment where engines upwards of 600 bhp are prepared and every one of them is run in. I know that you may work for Renault and you may know a thing or two about the engines, but I know that ALL engines need time to bed in before they are given any abuse.

As said before, if you have run the RCA leads away from any power leads then the earth is the source of the problem. You need a common earth - meaning that every amp earths to the same point on the cars chassis.
If this does not work consider making the common earth the - terminal on the...
...and was it worth the wait? HELL YEA!
Im sticking to 3000 rpm until it has a few miles under its wheels, but its still great fun to drive, because it starts pulling really hard at just above 2k.
One other thing you notice it the admiring glances you get ;)
I believe the problem was getting a manufacturer to supply non-ABS breaks in the size that they are. The manufacturer probably couldnt cope with the number of orders.

So youre the owner of that Nova then :) Theres been a bit of talk about you on the GTR register. Ive heard its a bit of a monster!
The thing with Novas is that there are loads of off the shelf products for them, but youll struggle to find any for a 1.2 Clio. So brakes, suspension etc...

Why would you want to get a turbo AND Nitrous?
You said that you cant be arsed with the hassle of an engine conversion, but I think you should have a look at a few of the posts that Joe has made about turbocharging his 172 - its a serious project.
It will be far cheaper to start off with a...
